"Table of Ultimate Gaming has a full line of tables that convert into gaming tables but they also have an elite series of tables with built in power ports, adjustable height gaming surface and modular decorations. Special branded versions of these tables are available for Warhammer 40,000 and Game of Thrones…."

There really isn't enough skulls are there?

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP27 Apr 2019 6:48 p.m. PST

I'm sorry. My sarcasm is completely unequal to this.

Narratio27 Apr 2019 8:35 p.m. PST

Robert – dig deep! You can do it. Feel the sarcasm, let it flow through you, become as one with the sarcasm. Start small – the LED torches or maybe the cup holders. Come on Robert, unleash the humour, you know it makes sense. Why, it's almost a moral imperative!

Well, obviously, we need more. Why is there no special branded version of the tables for Flames of War with the torches replace with WWII vintage flashlights? (They'd need to be different for each army, of course.)

Then there's the 30mm Napoleonics one--6x12 playing area, Imperial green with gold-leaf eagles and N's and decent quality wood for the First Empire. (The Second Empire table is gilt on particle board.)

But for the bog standard GW/FoW player this, THIS is what we need! Finally we'll have not just an official table, but an official table of a standard size to prevent anyone playing the official game on a non-standard board. At last the Great Diumvirate of GW/Battlefront will be able to stamp out those remnants of individual thinking which have troubled them so long.

After all, what else are we going to do with our money? Buy a set of 2x4 tables and adjust the size and shape to the situation? Buy more soldiers? Feed the poor? These tables may be the best way yet to say to our friends "I've got money and no idea what to do with it!"

You know, I think I'd better start prepping stuff for next year's flea markets.

Looks like someone took an old bumper pool table converted for use as a miniatures gaming table and painted it up real fancy with lots of glitter paint. Oh, wait, that was me, except for the glitter paint bit.

I was inspired by robert

Thank you, Schwartz.

Last week, I found a 3x4 picture frame with backing and green felt in the local thrift shop for $5.99 USD. I figured I could put it on top of two of my usual 2x4 tables--no seam, space for drinks and plenty of room for my 5mm castings. But now I don't see how I could play on it. It doesn't have a logo from a copyrighted system, after all. And what are respectably painted castings, a fun and more or less historical rules set and a well thought-out scenario next to the satisfaction of playing on a table which cost more than the troops on it?

Narratio was right, we ALL knew you could do it!!!!!

I want to collect and bottle some of that sarcasm!

One group in St.Paul has campaigns where one of the alliances is the ever victorious Sarcastic Alliance. I know these guys, they're pros, Robert you are right up there with them.

nugrim06 May 2019 3:05 a.m. PST

My grief,1k for a table!

Andy ONeill06 May 2019 10:11 a.m. PST

I don't follow who would buy one.
Billionaires maybe.
With overpriced miniatures you can still see a parent spending 100 quid because it's out of the toy budget and toys don't have the same sort of value-for-money logic as usual purchasers.
But a grand?
This is way outside of birthday-present-for-little-timmy territory.

Ever heard of "Geek Chic"? Before he went under, he sold $8 USD million in custom gaming tables. Try searching, "Toppers", on Kickstarter.com.

There are plenty of higher-end game table options. If it is not for you, fine, but there are thousands of gamers who will spend serious money on a gaming table. Cheers!

When I retire, this is exactly what I want for my "dining room" table. Something that could work fine for when relatives drop in. But soemthing that will spend 52 weekends of the year serving as a table to play all of my miniatures games on.

Don't need any of the elaborate kerfuffle to make it dungeon-y or Games of Throne-y or Skulls for the Blood God, etc. But Ia nice looking dining room table, that you remove the top and reveal the inner gaming surface.

Cup holders, usb ports, padded arm rests? Yes please.

SeattleGamer, take a look at this site. No electronics, sorry, but the Prinz works beautifully as a dining room table. Solid Hickory, less money than a traditional hardwood dining room table (depending upon size, of course). Legs attached by two screws each, so easy to assemble upon delivery. Chairs are up to you. Questions? Contact the vendor. Cheers!

Thanks for that Sarge!

I am a few years away from retirement, but some sort of fancy gaming table is definitely in my future. I only just started making lists of places that offer such things (and checking out YouTube vids from people who built their own).

Not to bash anyone, but building your own is only good for those with serious carpentry skills, if you want a high quality table.

All woods warp. Pro's glue two or more pieces edge on, with opposite grains and warping, so they hold each other straight. They then use a planar to make them level and smooth. To get a decent table, requires professional tools, and skills. Cheers!

In my garage i have two fixed tables that stand side by side.
I also have a folding table which i occasionally use in the house for winter gaming.
I made all 3 using fairly basic carpentry skills

Anybody can make a gaming table, with the most basic of skills and tools. It can be done with pine 2x4's, sheets of plywood, and a circular saw, rather easily, and quickly. That is not what SeattleGamer and I are discussing.

Take a look at the link I provided, above. That is more the style, and quality, we were discussing.

For just a basic table, no frills, it can be done for less than $100 USD, for a table up to around 5 feet x 9 feet, but it will not be something you will want to invite your friends and relatives to eat a holiday meal on top of. Just sayin'… ;-) Cheers!
