My latest blog covers my visit to the King Richard III visitor centre at Leicester as part of my exploration of the WOTR. The question asked by the Centre is 'was King Richard III a villian?'. Judged by today's standards, I dont think he would get a good press…but back then? Here's the link to the blog: link

Having studied the period at A level and degree standard I'd say he was about average for the strong kings and above average for the weaker ones. Much of the sources from the time are Tudor and intent on showing him in the worst possible light. The trouble with modern historians is that they are either strongly pro-Tudor or equally strongly pro-Richard so getting any kind of balanced view is difficult. |
