I injured my main painting arm and there may be some permanent damage to my wrist, which could affect me in the future.

So I thought i will try to learn to use my other hand. Anyone done this and how long does it take to get good? Eg good enough for 3 layers on a 28mm figure and fine details like 6mm figures.

Can take a while but can be done – a local surgeon injured their dominant hand and after six months or so was able to operate with their other hand

No idea; let's hope it doesn't come to that.

One of the Perry's lost his dominant hand at the wrist. Taught himself to sculpt and paint again with the other hand. No idea how long it took, but the results say it can be done.

Frank Frazetta learned to draw & paint with his left hand after his right arm had been paralyzed from a stroke.

It's mainly down to practice. I'm right handed, but always made the effort to write and draw with my left hand as a child as well, so now I can do many things with both hands.
There's a few things (like serving in tennis) which I find had with my left hand, but I'm sure if I put the hours in I could master that.

I'd practice on the larger cheap dollar store toy soldiers first, then work my way down the smaller scales as my skills improve… ;-)

Very sorry to hear that Kieran.

I hope you make a full recovery, so this issue is moot.

I can use a spray can with either hand.
