Are you still adding to your WWII gaming collection (land warfare)?

Personal logo Saber6 Supporting Member of TMP Fezian17 Apr 2019 7:35 p.m. PST

But of course

21eRegt17 Apr 2019 7:47 p.m. PST

'fraid so.

Whirlwind17 Apr 2019 8:01 p.m. PST

Yes. I have a platoon of US paratroopers and a Centaur on the way. 6mm Russians, Italians, Japanese, 8th Army, DAK and 14th Army are pretty much certainties in due course.

Florida Tory17 Apr 2019 8:04 p.m. PST

Obsessively and compulsively.

No. The last item from the period that I bought was the game Memoir '44, and that was four or five years ago.

D A THB17 Apr 2019 10:04 p.m. PST

As long as I can breathe and have money then they will keep growing.

Cornelius17 Apr 2019 10:11 p.m. PST

naturally

Torquemada18 Apr 2019 1:18 a.m. PST

Of course …

Trajanus18 Apr 2019 1:32 a.m. PST

Yup, expanding from the 20mm I used to play Crossfire with, then Chain of Command.

Now shifting up to 28mm using the new Perry US Infantry to play more Chain of Command, after buying a bunch of 20mm tanks last year for What Tanker!

20mm miniatures getting too small for the old eyeballs but 28mm tanks too big for my table!

Richard Baber18 Apr 2019 2:25 a.m. PST

I can always add stuff, though I have no plans for new periods or forces :)

Griefbringer18 Apr 2019 2:38 a.m. PST

I don't think that many of the posters here have enough WWII figures to field even a single proper army (i.e. a military formation consisting of multiple corps) at anything close to 1:1 model-to-combatant ratio.

langobard18 Apr 2019 2:59 a.m. PST

Of course they are!

Greg G118 Apr 2019 3:13 a.m. PST

Yes, there is always something new coming out in 6mm, and being in this scale it takes up little room.

Ever expanding like my midsection

Vigilant18 Apr 2019 5:04 a.m. PST

5 Sherman, 3 Staghounds and a Crusader AA for 2nd Polish Armoured Division in Italy nearing completion. Yes I think expansion is definitely happening.

Yes. Out of control yes.

Lee49418 Apr 2019 5:39 a.m. PST

Nope! Moving. Need to do a major RIF lol. Boatload of 1/72 and Rocco Minitank WWII I'd like to get rid of. Not an eBay fan. If anyone is interested let me know. Cheers!

Duh! I finally found my French motorcycles from Sherwood Wargames. I'm still adding to the early war Brits. Then I'll start with the Belgians.

Colbourne6618 Apr 2019 6:28 a.m. PST

Yes. I already have germans, but just ordered two boxes of Perry US GIs to build a US force for Chain of Command.

Slowly.

Chuckaroobob18 Apr 2019 7:10 a.m. PST

Of course! Just bought a couple boxes of Soviets at cold wars.

Wildman18 Apr 2019 7:25 a.m. PST

Lee494, what do you have in 1/72 that you want to get rid of?
And what do you want for it?

It's been stagnant but will grow this summer when FOW V4 LW kicks off. I'm planning on getting three armies with lots of vehicles: American, German and Soviet.

No. The last item from the period that I bought was … four or five years ago.

Not for over a year now.

By these standards, no. Haven't bought any WW2 kit for more than a few years now.

5 Sherman, 3 Staghounds and a Crusader AA for 2nd Polish Armoured Division in Italy nearing completion. Yes I think expansion is definitely happening.

I don't think that many of the posters here have enough WWII figures to field even a single proper army … at anything close to 1:1 model-to-combatant ratio.

By these standards, yes!

I have just completed a company of US infantry, and have been stalled out for a bit in completing the battalion support resources (haven't been able to find the many sandbags I had pre-made among the boxes in the garage since I moved NINE YEARS AGO, and I'm just slow to make another 40 or 50 new ones, and I can't see finishing my .50cal AA gun pits without sandbags).

Then after that I have some Italian fighters and bombers to paint up, along with some German ground attack planes to be painted up as Romanians. Do they count, or are we specifically only looking at armies?

Then I have some specialist Russian stuff next in line. Some mine roller T-34s, and some Polish Tchankas (which will need a bit of kit-bashing to look Russian enough for my purposes), and then I also plan to kit-bash a couple Ampulomet crews for my Russians as well.

After that I'm considering whether to move next on some Italians on motorcycles. That will be a bit of a kit-bashing project. I have German motorcycle-sidecars to start with, but Italians didn't use many side-cars. I have some old C-in-C infantry in marching poses (slung rifles) that I might be able to bend around a bit to put as second-seaters on some of the motorcycles, and then I will also need to figure out how to bash up some triacles. No doubt, as soon as I am done some vendor will announce Italian motorcyclists.

But fighting for that in the queue I have a company of mid-war production M4 Shermans wating (well the mantlets are right for mid-war, but they don't have applique armor plates, so I'm thinking of adding some -- might be a bit fiddly at my scale). And some M7 HMCs, and some M8 HMCs need to be painted up (and supplied with crew figures). Then I also have some M26 Pershings and M10s (only have one platoon now in my ready-forces box!) to paint up too.

Oh and I also need to paint up some Italian infantry figures, to serve as dismounts for my Sahariana gun trucks. And while we're at it, I have some more Sahariana gun trucks to paint up too.

At some point I need to paint up my company of T-34m1940s. That's likely to be a pretty quick job, mono-tone green and some weathering and detailing and they're done. Except I might to one with open-hatch and commander, which given the hatch on a T-34 might be an interesting bit of kit-bashing.

I don't have enough US M3 halftracks to field a full companny of armored infantry. They're waiting in my To-Be-Painted box, so I just need to get to them. Might need to refurb some of the old ones I already have -- 35 years ago I didn't have anywhere near the skills that I regularly apply now. They look kinda shoddy. But I don't have enough of them in any case, so the force needs to grow.

Then there's that whole Spahis project I keep wanting to do. I bought cossack cavalry figures long ago to be the basis for some kit-bashing. Thinking I can just putty in some continuity from Russian fur caps to capes, to give a nice approximation of the cheche of a Spahi. Some day…

And before I forget, I need to add some more jeeps and M3 scout cars to complete a US Army Armored Cav squadron/company for my Tunisia gaming. Have a few platoons done, but the last bits to complete a reasonable TOE are still awaiting my attention. I should probably do some dismounts for them too (as with my Italian Saharianas). But I'm just finishing my US infantry. Might be able to squeeze a few extra stands in. Good thing I thought of it.

I'm sorry, what was the question again? Am I adding to my WW2 collection? Did anyone notice where that bear was going find some privacy? Or did someone make a reference to my midsection growing? Should I?

Wildman. I can get an exact count if interested but basically 5-10 or 12 each of most of the original Rocco Minitanks such as Sherman's, Pz IV. Pz III. Panther. Tigers. Trucks. Something like several dozen boxes with 20 or so tanks in each with some 1/72 models mixed in to fill the gaps. Most are painted base colors but definitely not collectors pieces! I have no idea what to charge I've seen used on eBay for $8. USD New are about twice that.

Not interested in parceling them out in pieces. Would like to sell all at once.

Lee, ok I was just interested in 1/72. Hope you find
someone who is interested in everything.

BrockLanders18 Apr 2019 3:16 p.m. PST

Have about 100 28mm Russian and German figs and about a dozen vehicles for Chain of Command gaming, and now embarking on building a 28mm American force for Western front scenarios. I have a sickness and it will never end

Lion in the Stars18 Apr 2019 3:25 p.m. PST

Slowly, but yes. Most recently added stuff to my 15mm Nachtjager forces (E50s and Katzchen 38t APCs, all fitted with IR gear).

There is always something else you "need". Even if it's replacing old stuff.
I like making and painting the toys so even the flimsiest excuse will suffice.
