That is very tempting…

Neat, but not my style. I was gifted a Basic Dungeon set of Dwarven Forge, around 15 years ago. I realized I would need an additional number of sets, to the tune of $1,000 USD+, for the dungeons I would want to build… I sold it off after a year or two of collecting dust.

I invested in 2D tiles which I printed off and mounted on the glue side of vinyl peel-n-stick floor tiles ($0.39/square foot, on sale), which I then cut to shape and size. They work well enough, without blocking the players' LOS, but they take too much time to deploy. I never know if my players will go forward into the dungeon, as they may blow it off entirely, requiring me to shelve it until I can work it back into the story, later.

The grand old Chessex Battlemat still reigns supreme on my table, for RPG's. For miniature battles, I very much prefer card stock buildings (made with 2-3mm thick cardboard). Even those are not as elaborate as what these sets can produce.

My storage is limited. So is my budget, since my children chopped down my Money Tree in the back yard, at an early age. I need terrain, and figures, which I can re-use, multiple times, before I can dedicate storage space to them. Cheers!
