The Hotel Lancaster is now a Holiday Inn. Looks like the renovations there are on target….. link Sorry if you cannot access the link. The local paper is hard to access if you do not pay now. From what I learned (before I was cut off since I am not a subscriber) is that they are on target to finish renovations on 1.5 floors (means more rooms) in May. Should help with some downtown hotel rooms.

Good news, BTC. Thanks for sharing. Plus, as mentioned in the original news story (and the related article), a new parking garage will be built on the site. You can see the details by clicking on the link for the related article. |

Don't look back. Well, let's have a convention there first. I'm personally pumped to try out the new venue, but that doesn't mean the concerns and questions brought up here about the logistics aren't valid. Also looking back on the state of the Wyndham/Host wasn't that bad at all for Cold Wars. |

Yes, Fall In Eighteen, selling in the dark will haunt me forever. Having said that I would return to a fully refurbished Host as it is in my blood so to speak. But,the downtown venue looks pretty awesome for Historicon. I am sure we will have plenty of discussions on which is better or crapier or more inconvenient, or bang for the buck. Everyone who hasn't, should see the convention center video. |

I'm going to have to re-read the parking accommodations again--ir didn't sound like you could leave and return without having to pay for more parking even if you were registered there. If that's the case, that royally sucks. Or perhaps, as mentioned, I am misunderstanding the situation. |

HMGS is reimbursing the parking, I thought. |
vagamer63 | 23 Apr 2019 11:01 a.m. PST |
HMGS is providing (1) Voucher per day of Attendance to cover the Contracted Discount Rate of $7 USD per day per vehicle. However if a vehicle goes In and Out more then once on the same day the driver will end up paying for one of those uses. The second use of a parking spot would suggest the driver will pay the normal parking rate, otherwise why would HMGS be issuing Vouchers? If one is staying at the Marriott (Convention Site) then parking is free! With unlimited In & Out Privileges.
The information thus far promulgated by HMGS seems to raise more questions then providing thorough and complete answers.

Vagamer63, what do you care? Remember this: "I know I've attended my last HMGS show, and just about everyone in this corner of VA. feels the same……" Vagamer63 from July 22,2017 Why do you insist on commenting on conventions you won't be going to? |

Hi I think VA has the situation right in regards to the parking. That's as I understand it. I know some of my friends who have not got a downtown hotel will be hit the same with fees but it is one of the compromises because of the location… However once in I guess vast majority will eat downtown and not need in out privilege… |

So HMGS got the daily city parking rate down from $21 USD to $7 USD and will reimburse those parking in said lots with a $7 USD voucher. But, this being TMP, that's still a source for contention for some. |

Well, if that's one voucher per day, per attendee, I don't think there'll be much of a problem. A little bit of ride sharing with a group and there should be plenty of vouchers to cover multiple trips in and out. We have three guys sharing one car. We'll be there for three days. That's 9 vouchers over three days. Should cover normal parking plus beer runs easily. |
