So, it seems that PSC has stopped production of the former Armies Armies Soviet VDV.

I have one platoon of 4x PSC BMD1s, and apparently need to buy QRF to finish out my VDV force for Team Yankee.

Can I put QRF BMDs next to PSC, or do I need to replace that platoon's vehicle?

I didn't know PSC ever sold those.

I do recall seeing AA selling them.

A pity they seem to no longer be available in this scale.

You can get them from Shapeways in 1/144th scale, and they're pretty neat. Lots of options for other variants too.

AA went out of business and sold all its inventory to PSC. PSC is notorious for its lack of stock once existing inventory runs out (just ask any Battlegroup player).

@Lion,

From what I've seen in other posts on other models, QRF's all-metal minis may be just a tad smaller than plastic offerings from PSC and Battlefront. I have not seen a direct comparison between QRF and AA so am assuming AA is "compatible" with PSC/BF. So it largely depends on your tolerance and if you can live with it. Since QRF is your only choice left if you want to expand your Soviet Airborne force and you only have 4 AA/PSC BMD's, what do you have to lose? If the size difference is too pronounced for you, you only have to replace 4 BMD's.

Shapeways is good but is usually cost-prohibitive if you're looking to buy more than a couple of models:

If you're not in a rush to finish the unit, it may be worth waiting a few weeks.
There are rumours that Keith of Armies Army has got the moulds back from PSC and that they are being re-released by his new venture Army bits in the next few weeks.

That would be awesome!

Here's Keith's Shapeways store for Army Bits & Bobs: link

Maybe you can send him a message asking for confirmation.

It's worth the wait if true. I would pick AA over QRF. No offense, Geoff.

He also has a Facebook page as ArmyBits, and is active on the Team Yankee (unofficial) page, and Red Storm Rising Wargames page.

1/144th scale BMDs are pretty reasonably priced.

I suspect 1/100th ones to be less so, at least on Shapeways.

So Keith won't be re-releasing the VDV then? It doesn't look like PSC is supporting the AA line :(

I will not be no

somebody else will be though and I will be doing some contracting for them :)

I will leave them to announce :)

"AA went out of business"….I did not…just to be clear as I know the intention was not meant, however its irking me :)

That's confirmation enough for me :)

That's cool, AA.

I have some time to wait before the rest of the guys jump into Cold War with both feet.

Could you have the new owner post here on TMP at least, if not in this thread? Thanks!

I should point out that I really like the AA VDV, and had planned on building my entire Team Yankee force using AA minis, including some improvised ZSU-23-4s (really a ZU23 on the back of a BTR-D).

Lion in the Stars27 Apr 2019 10:13 a.m. PST

OK, looks like Scotia-Grendel picked up the Armies Armies VDV.

Armiesarmy29 Apr 2019 6:06 a.m. PST

They did, however Id suspect they would of been happier with releasing the news themselves rather then psc!

Good news , they have plans for more stuff

QRF Models24 May 2019 2:57 a.m. PST

No offense, Geoff.

Depends whether you like print lines or not ;-)

We have those too: link
