Any suggestions for 28mm Nationalist Chinese troops c 1937? SWMBO has masses of spare early-mid war Germans and is wondering if just giving them khaki uniforms instead of grey would be adequate or if it would be easier to just sell off come of her Germans and buy other figures? And if so what?

As well as the Copplestone, there are brigade Games:

I understand these a more diminutive than Copplestone. So I guess is SWMBO checks what here early war Germans look like in comparison to these sets she might be able to fit some in.

Those look very promising Giles; thanks very much.

Probably late war World war Germans could work.

Yeah Copplestone and Brigade are your real options. You could use early war Germans for Nationalists, and some CCP since that one entire division IIRC went over to the Red Army. Personally I am using the Copplestone stuff for a Warlord/CCP army, probably will do some early war Germans I have as Nationalist, with fillins from Brigade. Currently I am painting some Brigade Japanese. They are really nice sculpts, and paint up easily.

Between the puttees and the big square (ish) packs maybe she would be as well just buying new figures and selling off some of her excess Germans? I'm guessing carving puttees into plastic Bolt Action legs would be ludicrously time-consuming. Thanks for all the advice folks!

Does Brigade Games have a UK stockist? I understand they used to be on the North Star website, but apparently not any more?

Why don't you contact Brigade Games and ask who their stockist is?

How about Warlord Japanese troops with German equipment? Useing the plastic sets it should be a simple conversion.

All sounds very promising. SWMBO is n't keen on building kit figures, but I think we know someone who can be persuaded (bullied) into building them for her. Many thanks for all your help and advice!

Reiner Castings have a fantastic range. They are sold by Northumbrian Painting Services.

Apart from the lack of puttees, the WW 2 Hungarian uniform seems to be rather similar.

Would like to second the Reiver Castings range. Obviously not as good as Brigade Games' Paul Hicks sculpts, but the sheer variety of figures is not something to scoff at.

FWIW, they also produce the only proper range of early war Japanese (think shoulder tabs and standing collars).

Dashetal17 Apr 2019 7:46 p.m. PST

How do Reiver Casting figures match with Copplestone Chinese?
