Just starting an ECW campaign and fighting the battles using normal rules tabletop as usual but decided to fight sieges "off table" more abstractly.
Any recommended rules out there for dealing with sieges of the ECW fairly simply please?

The ECW siege book by Stephen Maggs from Partizan/Caliver can be used as an 'add on' to most rule sets. Also has some scenarios in it too.

I second the Maggs book recommendation.

That does look interesting and I will have to take a look when caliver go to Colours or Warfare, and we can simplify the rules as necessary.
Aside from the more formal sieges that Maggs looks to cover any ideas about taking a town with improvised defences like a ditch and bank. We have a situation where a recently routed Royalist force has retired to a local town and been trapped there by three Parliamentary armies.
Aside from Lostwithiel are there any other examples and what was the outcome? We offered terms but they have decided to fight it out but I am not sure that is terribly realistic.

The National Civil War Centre's siege database might fuel your fired (there some errors in it though)
