So, when the polls have answers that are obviously wrong, should they be edited out before voting? Obvious is obviously obvious. But it also might be obvious that everyone's obvious is not the same. Obviously. Sure, there are some clear cases where something someone suggested doesn't fit. It might have even been a joke post. But there are probably a lot more cases where someone's genuine opinion goes against the zeitgeist or is just hard to suss out without pages of discussion. (Are Amazon forces real? Well … it depends on what you mean. If you mean popular media Amazons, probably not and not close. Then again, if you mean popular media Nazis, they are probably not real and not close, either. But if you mean …) So could we just not vote for an obvious outlier rather than risk cutting out someone's genuine opinion that is just very different from ours? Certainly people need to have thick skin and not get upset about a poll. But are those the people with outlier opinions or the people who feel imposed upon to skip an option in a poll? Me? I'd rather the Editor just put what people say in the poll without editing. I'm already skilled at ignoring how wrong others are … :) |

Who says that those who hold the most popular opinion are right? Or that those who hold the least popular opinion are wrong? My opinions are, um, let's see, oh yeah, MINE. And they are worth every penny you paid for them. |

The polls are like the answers on Family Feud. They don't get the "correct" answer they get the answer people think is correct. |

Yes. At the moment it seems that every nominated answer is included in the poll. Even the obviously joke or irrelevant answers. An example is the current poll entitled "how do you prefer to pay for things online?". Some wag evidently nominated 'cash' as a choice! Online? A perfect example of a suggestion that should not make it on to the poll. |

Stop pretending that TMP Polls matter. There is no such thing as a wrong answer when it comes to opinion. Facts are different. Polls do not resolve facts. |

I think should have a poll on this question. |

Of course there's such thing as a wrong answer when it comes to opinion. Obviously there will opinions that don't agree with mine and, obviously, those opinions will be worth a counterfeit Venezuelan peso and thus wrong. QED. LT |

I'm for anything that reduces, or better yet eliminates, the endless stream of polls with multiple rounds. Round 3c? Seriously? And as of this writing, there are 72 active polls. 72! Does anybody actually try to keep up with them all anymore? I used to vote in every poll, but gave up when the multi-round ones started outnumbering the rest. As it is now, I rarely even open them, much less bother to vote. |

I feel a song coming on. Use the tune "bad boys" from cops. Bad polls, bad polls, what you gonna do? What you gonna do when someone votes for you? |

If someone asks, what's your favourite colour. And someone answers catwoman, then obviously it shouldn't be in the poll. |
etotheipi | 10 Apr 2019 6:21 a.m. PST |
Catwoman? That is completely ridiculous.
My favourite colour is Poison Ivy! |

Hey, it's all for a lark, just have some fun with it. |

Was the math cartoon or the Catwoman shade of nail polish coming off as too serious? ;) |

Hey, it's all for a lark, just have some fun with it. I honestly do not know where THAT came from! |

No offense taken. Rather, I took the opportunity to have an additional lark with this topic. Merci. :) |
