I spent the day at this year's Salute and thoroughly enjoyed seeing some great games and meeting and chatting with various traders that were present about their ranges and plans for the future.

Salute continues to be a great show for seeing whats new in the hobby and also some very attractive games to inspire.

What a fantastic report. Thanks much for doing this.

Are there two Salutes on same weekend? Some people seem to go to the one that is fun, has great games, they buy loads of stuff, and seem to have good time. I know I went to that Salute.

Other people seem to get off at a different stop and go to a whole different exhibition, that is full of games that they don't like, nobody is selling stuff they want to buy, and is in a dark horrid place where all is gloom.

Perhaps Warlords to signpost the fun Salute better so people don't go the wrong one

Excellent report JJ!
Loved the Ligny game, thanks for the close ups.
Stephen Summerfield seems like a great guy. But I'm a Prussian fan anyway. Painted up 2000+ Calpe Prussians for our groups Ligny and Waterloo games.

Well said Gunnerphil.

I must have struck lucky because I obviously found the fun one with loads of great games and traders who easily took £300.00 GBP of my future beer money.

Was it the best Salute – no. Will I be back next year? Heck yes. Just need to know the day so I can get the holiday booked!

Thanks for your comments chaps.

Yes I saw some of the, lets say, opposing views about Salute and all I can say is perhaps the way we see things says more about us than the show itself.

I've been doing this a long time and have seen a lot of wargames and shows to compare with; and have been on the other side of the door organising events and clearing up at the end of the day which gives me a spectrum of great shows and not so great shows as a measure.

Salute to my way of thinking is most definitely on the former end of that spectrum, which I hope I captured in my post and from the comments I have received it seems many others feel that way to.

Cheers all

Well I had a great time. Plenty to keep me diverted for the day. Ok, not everything was to my taste but easy enough to pass by and onto something good.

The knockers should ask themselves what else would they be doing with their time if they didn't go to Salute?

I mean, I could've been at home cleaning out my guttering…

Thank you so much
