Spot on, but it won't stop me from buying their stuff. I found it amusing anyway.

Ah. My bad. I forgot that rule!

Man, imagine the rant if the guys started doing historicals.

"This pack advertises spearmen. There were no spears!"

"I bought a pack of Napoleonic soldiers to play model games with, there are no bases to put them on!"

"This pack contains 30 figures with 6 command, everyone knows the optimal size for a unit is 20. So I can either make 20 with full command and throw the other 10 away or they are using the scummy tactic of making me buy another pack of 30 just so I can make 2 units of 20. I can't even make 3 units of 60 because I'll have 3 command guys too many and I'll be 3 regular guys short."

"This Macedonian boxed set comes with two many pikemen and not enough staff slingers when everyone knows that staff-slingers are shizz-diggity-dog."

Man, imagine the rant if the guys started doing historicals.

I don't have to imagine it. I have heard pretty much that from a couple of DBA players complaining they had to buy a pack of 4 cavalry for the single base of cavalry in the army with (wait for it) 3 horses.

Admitedly this type of behaviour is not common, but humans will be humans!

Swearing aside, he made a good point.

However, if you look at the sprues, you get 2 chain cannons, not one as it's on the same sprue as the bolter and auto Cannon.

I can understand people getting annoyed that they cant have 4 of the same weapons.

He is right that if you don't like it, let GW know. Although it seems otherwise, they must appreciate feedback.

32 S5 AP-1 shots per shooting phase. What's not to love? Not "cheesy" at all.

This reminds me of the old Epic days when you needed three vehicles for a particular unit but guess how many came in the blister pack? 2. Even at 14, that struck me as cynical, and was one of the reasons I eventually jacked it in.

Of course, now it's one otyhe reasons I just make stuff out of foam board and drinking straws, but still.

Skinflint, I first came across this issue in 1988 or 89 when GW first started selling blister packs with metal minis.

Every force the had back then in the early army lists all had 10 men in a squad. But GW sold 4-man blister packs at the time. For a starving college student like me that was maddening.

It struck me as pretty cheesy but it never stopped me from spending loads on GW and later FWs goodies.

Their business practices aside, what's always bothered me more is #1) Their downright refusal to make miniatures for certain units in their own universe, and #2) their virtually having no system for rewarding frequent buyers of their products.

I've played 40k off and on since 1987 and on a good year I can easily spend $5 USD-6k with no reward or benefit beyond free shipping.

I don't think anyone can argue reasonably that GWs business ethic puts their customers best interests first, but they sure do make nice SHINEY….and for me, for now, that's enough.

The H Man05 Apr 2019 3:12 p.m. PST

What about the skullz stickers and rewards. Too Long ago I guess.

In Oz we got packs of 3 figs, not 4. Still with issues. I like metal, but the regiment/squad boxes make scence here.

On the havocs.

All cleared up. There in an extra sprue GW is neglecting to show it's customers.

So, Yes, only 1 chaincannon.

It was a problem with WHFB too. Guys came in 3 packs, command came in 3 packs, so you either had 18 or 21 never 20. Then they switched it to two per and you still had the same problem, only it was 19 or 21.

I'm not sure how they would have solved that though, until they did it with 20 man plastic boxes.

But, as I referenced earlier, historicals have the same problem, you're never going to make gamers happy with squad sizes.

On FW, I'm pretty bumbed they have done away with many (most) of their discounted army lots. I took advantage of those.

I'm hoping they will replace the missing ones (like for robots) as new minis (like the recent Blood Angels) get released.
