"Back in 2007 Valiant began producing sets of figures for World War II. Despite the box claiming the scale as 1/72 they were noticeably larger, both in the size of the figures and the equipment. This meant that regardless of their individual merits the figures looked all wrong when used with other, true 1/72 sets, and when we reviewed these sets at the time we pointed this out. Roughly a decade later Valiant have decided to reissue some of these figures, and this time in proper 1/72 scale. Their first two sets are both built on the contents of their original set Classic German Infantry 1944/45, the first of which being this one…."

This is a great development from Valiant, and I hope it is successful for them and so can afford to retool the entire range. The heavy support weapons pack is really useful |

Sorry for the buzzkill but from what I gathered online, these new scaled down 1/72 minis in Valiant's "Fighting 72" boxsets contain fewer poses than the previous ones, and still are not compatible with other 1/72 lines because only the height is reduced without the corresponding proportionate reduction in figure bulkiness and head size. So it's a pass for a lot of people. Here's a pic comparing the newly resized figure with the old. You be the judge:

so good to see the sculpts with the very first version of the AK-47 The barrel of the MP40 is overly long, but they're not the only ones. The pic below is a 28mm plastic Wargames Factory miniature:

They look pretty good to me, and I reckon painted up they will be good. I should get a box or two and try them |

The 2 MP40s in the comparison photo look to be the same size to me. Mainly, the man on the left has shorter legs and a shorter neck, otherwise look identical. |
