In many gaming groups, one (or more) person is the Front Man. He is the expert for an era, chooses the rules, and has the most figures. He decides scales and unit level.

Are you a front man?

As in the one that is willing to get things going? Yes

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut02 Apr 2019 11:07 p.m. PST

Oh Gods no. That's Bashytubits for one group, Jason for another, and Kurt for the third.

advocate02 Apr 2019 11:34 p.m. PST

Sometimes, but often a loyal lieutenant

sillypoint02 Apr 2019 11:52 p.m. PST

Yes, sometimes. If I want my figures on the table. Our group has most periods covered.

No, I tend to have the weird and whacky stuff that rarely gets played with. In most cases though we tend to share a lot of decisions, even where we use mostly one person's collection at his house.

shaun from s and s models03 Apr 2019 3:49 a.m. PST

we all are in our club, surprised we all get on so well!

TodCreasey03 Apr 2019 4:29 a.m. PST

There are 7-8 of us who do that in our club. I tend to be the late adopter once the momentum builds.

Karellian Knight03 Apr 2019 4:58 a.m. PST

I tend to make the scenery, introduce new rule sets, bring new armies to play. I'm no period expert, I get inspired by books and movies. I feel I'm more a drummer than a frontman.

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP03 Apr 2019 5:04 a.m. PST

Frequently.

Tom Reed03 Apr 2019 6:28 a.m. PST

Our "front man" died several years ago and left our little group in ruins. I've been trying to pick up the pieces and keep things going.

No – expert for an era
Yes – chooses the rules
Yes – has the most figures
Yes – decides scales and unit level

I would estimate the Yeses are 19 or 20 games.

So … 71.125%.

Often I am the point man, otherwise known as "Casualty #1". Does that count?

rustymusket03 Apr 2019 6:55 a.m. PST

No, I am the tag along or the "what-the-heck-I-just-finished-my-Austrian-Napoleonic-corps-and-now-we-are-doing-te-Seven-Years-War? guy.

I was point man once, but that was long ago in a battlefield far, far away.

Expert no, everything else about 90% of the time.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP03 Apr 2019 8:05 a.m. PST

Heck no

I'm the guy with the big painted army who shows up once every six months

That's classified …

PzGeneral03 Apr 2019 9:12 a.m. PST

Expert only because no one else cares.

Buyer of everything, reader of rules, painter of minis, designer of scenarios, transporter of everything, setter up and taker down of game. Yes

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP03 Apr 2019 9:14 a.m. PST

Sometimes.

von Schwartz03 Apr 2019 6:21 p.m. PST

I second RustyMusket, I built a 1809 Austrian Corps, the group went to 1807 Prussia, so I built a 1807 Prussian army, the group took a hard left into 25mm Biblical, started a Libyan army, the group swerved into SYW 15mm again. I started drinking. The group then went to 15mm Sci-Fi, then another hard right into Renaissance. I left and moved to Florida.

SultanSevy03 Apr 2019 7:13 p.m. PST

YES.

Old Contemptibles04 Apr 2019 8:02 a.m. PST

Yes for some rules we play I am the Front Man. Although we tend to specialize, I am the figure and terrain guy and other is the rules guy. For other rules we use someone else is the Front Man.

Old Contemptibles04 Apr 2019 8:04 a.m. PST

ACWBill05 Apr 2019 4:31 p.m. PST

Seems to be so. I have a huge gaming space and a wide range of figures and terrain.

Howler07 Apr 2019 2:15 p.m. PST

Nope. But I do provide the most amusing, stupid, and speculative moves. Gets lots of comments too
