I have a buddy with grade school boys who are interested in WWII aircraft. He's not a model builder. I suggested looking at diecasts. Can someone recommend some sturdy models in either 1/72 or 1/48 scale? They aren't going to through them around but sturdier is better than not. |

For 1/48th scale, the 21st Century range, or something like that was quite nice. All plastic, but superbly modeled, assembled, and fully painted. I think I may have some surplus planes, but would need to check. Seem to recall some Mustangs, Me-109G-10s and G-14s, and possibly some Japanese Tony (Hien) fighters. If so, they'd still be in their original, unopened boxes. Having them narrow down the types of planes they'd be interested in would be helpful. Let me know if there is any interest in the above, and I'll double-check availability. |

Revell makes a bunch of 1/48 SnapTite kits that are already painted, with decals. You just, well, snap a few pieces together. My daughter's loved them, and they are cheap enough that if they get broken, it is no big deal. 109, Spitfire, Mustang. Pegasus makes a similar line called EZ Snapz, with even more choices. link |
