On a scale of 1 (poor) to 10 (excellent), how would you rate the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, based on your experiences?

8. Certainly worth a visit if you're in Cairo.

At lease a solid 8

Only an 8, but well worth a visit.

On the day that I visited it, I had the great fortune to get to the Tutanhkamun section early. I got to have about 45 minutes in it before the crowds arrived. That section is superb.

The Ptolemaic section was very disappointing, hardly anything in it.

You can only look at so many mummies (human and animal) before the eyes start to glaze over

I would give it a solid 8. That was in 1989 though, so take that for what it's worth.

6 or 7 (this was before the new one opened). The exhibits are, of course, spectacular, but the entire museum was poorly organized and many exhibits were identified with typewritten tags on 3x5 index cards so old their edges were yellowed and curling. That said, to see the Narmer Tablet was a ten plus.

Certainly on my list to visit if I ever make it to Cairo.

I was there when I was 9 years old, but from what I recall, a "9".

If you can't make it to Cairo I suggest the British museum in London which has a wonderful Egyptian & Sudanese collection.
