Is there an ACW book like the Greenhill Napoleonic Wars Data Book? I ask because I'm trying to decide whether Fire & Fury Brigade scale would fit my gaming needs and, because I like to refight actual battles, I'd like a source that lets me find all engagements in the 15 – 25,000 / side range as that's likely about the size forces that I'll paint up. Thanks much for any info. |

I have two that might give you what you need: The Civil War Source Book by Philip Katcher (Facts on File, New York: 1992) Battles and Leaders of the Civil War The latter is a four volume set that was published in the late 1800s gathering orders of battle for the major battles and descriptions of the many campaigns and battles written by many of the actual participants. While the participant contributions may not be entirely accurate, the orders of battle seem to be very useful. Jim |

Here is the book you are looking for, it goes top to bottom from logistics to march tables, intel, stages of battle, casualties and more. It is a very light read almost like a comic book with lots of line drawings. I have owned three copies of this through the years. link |

I second that emotion from GROSSMAN. As a F&F fan my group has done many historical battles w/ Brigade version including Stones'River and Chickamagua. H |

Grossman has a good suggestion. This one is in my library too. |

Good suggestions, ut I don't think that any of them are comparable to the Napoleonic Wars Data Book, but that wasn't what they were intended to do. |

If you need maps and orders of battle then Battles and Leaders is the place to go. Mark |
