"Winston Smith locked out?" Topic

Bill, i have just noticed that Winston Smith/John The OFM has had his account locked. Why is this? He has always been a great contributor to this site and has been a prolific and generous poster in the American Revolution board. His posts are witty and at times sardonic but respectful. So what has he done to be locked out and "disappeared" into the night?

I recently posted a topic about advertiser standards, and said I would not discuss specific cases.

Winston Smith has posted several times, attempting to insert himself into a matter concerning a former TMP advertiser. Therefore, his account was locked for trolling.

He has emailed me to explain his reasons. He does not want his account to be unlocked unless certain conditions are met. He says that if his account is unlocked, he will Stifle a Moderator so that it will be auto-locked.

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands….Blah, Blah, Blah.

I hope you two can work something out. I've always greatly enjoyed his presence here.

First of all, he didn't really give me a lot of choice. He had no business involving himself in the matter.

Secondly, he doesn't want to come back.

That would seem to be conclusive.

We let him back to TMP recently on his promise to be on his good behavior. Obviously, that promise didn't mean much to him.

Then maybe you should sit down with your friend and have an intervention, and tell him that there are certain realities in this world, and that his big ego is preventing him from enjoying life.

I can't babysit every misfit gamer in the world.

He does this from time to time. He'll eventually come back, after whatever got into him runs its course and acting like he never left. The man's a complicated cat.

I've had Winston Smith ignored for almost a year now.

Winston, get over it and come on back. We miss you. There will always be tiny, little problems in life that we can handle if we just suck it up and move on. Don't run away and hide on us.

While I often disagree with WS/JtO I shall miss him and hope that he returns.

I, too, wish that the OFM and TMP can come to terms and that he will return, suitably chastised if necessary.

He's easily among the top five or so posters here for wits and pithy observation.

This place will be a bit less without him.

As in almost all cases, the OFM can come back if he will promise to obey forum rules and stop trying to stir up trouble all the time. Just talk about gaming. Stop obsessing over who posts what on which boards. If there's another TMP member he can't stand, then use Stifle and Ignore and be done with it.
