Is the current version top-heavy on armor and light on infantry compared to previous editions? Are you fighting more tank-versus-tank battles under V4 than ever before? |

We still play V3, with scenarios instead of points. |

+1 to EC. I am a real fan of Great War, either in its V3 or V4 implementations. Battles become more about manoeuvre, suppression of the enemy, etc. And if someone does bring a tank they are so slow that armies can move around them. |

Well, Team Yankee/WW3 definitely is armor-heavy. WW2 really depends on who is playing. It can turn into a tankfest, but doesn't have to. Several of my armies only have 5-6 tanks, while a couple others have 12-20. |

IMHO, the various editions are irrelevant as regards the game being a tank fest, that comes down to the players. |

I'd say it's all about player choices. I regularly run Italian Bersaglieri, German grenadier or panzer grenadier forces with success. Recently we took on a classic British tank 'n guns force in North Africa and utterly trounced it with combined arms. So I guess you get what you pay for and the rules are flexible enough to let you play what you want. (Sort of.) |

Seems that BF is pushing this type of tank-heavy force composition. Here are but a few examples:
Lion is right. It's TY for WWII. |

I think it's because gamers, even on the old GW days liked BIGSEXYTANKS |

They won't make money selling infantry companies. You only need one or three of them. Tanks, assault guns, arm recon, self propelled AT and half-tracks for early war,mid war and of coarse late war! Not even talking about all the guns! The cards help move the game much faster IMHO. We usually have tanks and such as supports rules are fine for that. Agree with Mr Elmo who don't like TANKS!!! |

The cards help move the game much faster IMHO That's good to know. I think I'm going to take the plunge into V4 when the LW release properly kicks off on June 6. Believe it or not I have never played FOW before in its three previous editions, being strictly a BA player. Shouldn't be too hard since I already play TY. |

Agree that the cards are a big improvement to remembering all the stats for your units. |

IMO 15mm is a decent size for tanks . They are small enough yet quite detailed to have quite a few on an averaged size table. I think they ( FOW) are just playing to their strengths, which, are decent model tanks . |

Fan we play BA alot also like it Very much! TY and V4 very compatible. Good for a 2 hr game. Lion don't forget the cards have special rules reminders right on them which helps a whole lot!! Running big NAM 6 player game this weekend for the guys………… |

I've played infantry heavy games in V4 and have loved them. My go to Team Yankee army is actually mechanized infantry and they do very well against any Soviet army. I guess it really comes down to the players and what they want.. plus painting 100+ infantrymen can be a bit annoying! |

In our gaming group, tanks are the majority. We use other games for infantry. |
