Simple question. What's your favorite French aircraft from WWII? |

Any one that got into the air in May '40 |

Amiot 143-- designed as a bomber, reconnaissance aircraft, and heavy escort fighter (truly!); it's what the French would have designed if they had been asked to build a Mosquito. |

I'm with khanscom and the Amiot 143, closely followed by the Farman F222. If these planes could fly then there's no reason they couldn't achieve other miracles. |

Also go for the D.520. Most French fighters at the time were otherwise underwhelming IMHO. They were a few years behind the cycle of the Germans & didn't have time to catch up… Damon. |

A bit late to this party, but now that there's a poll up, I thought I might chime in. I like the Dewoitine D.520. A capable fighter, that continued to see action with Vichy and then Free French forces up to about 1943 (a few even in ground attack missions against by-passed and surrounded Germans in 1944…). I also like the US provided Hawk 75 (aka: P-36 in USAAC service). Seems to have had the best record among French fighters in the 1940 campaign. But my favorite has to be the Breguet 693. It seems to have been a fully modern concept of attack plane, which compares (at least on paper) to the Pe-2 or Me-110/210. Seems not to have done so well in combat, though, as German low-level flak was far beyond what anyone had expected. I'm guessing that if the French had been able to withstand the blitzkrieg of 1940 and prolong their participation in the war, it would have been upgraded with the kinds of armor and self-sealing fuel tanks that made other 1940 service planes useful in 1941 and beyond. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

Late to the party but I have to vote for the Potez 630 as well. Starting one in 1/300 today. Dave |
