I apparently have a bit of thing for re-purposing 1:76th Cold War armour for sci-fi. Anyway, ages ago I picked up a lot of pre-built Airfix kits, in varying states of disrepair, off of eBay for a Scorpion turret to build a proxy 40K Predator. I was left with a very beat up Centurion, a Leo, a Chieftain and 3 Sheridan's with badly damaged track assemblies. I decided the three Sheridan's would make a good project, but rebuilding the tracks looked to out of the question, considered turning them in to grav tanks, GEVS or AV's, but then Brigade released spare wheels… Lazily I just stuck them on in place of the road wheels, not realising that they are slightly off-set on each side till I'd already stuck some on! Added some box work made from chopped up kids plastic counting cubes. Also re-furbed' the Chieftain and added a second built fresh from a kit. Unfortunately one Sheridan had pretty much all its detail parts stripped so I improvised some applique armour…
Basically they will join my not-Colonial Marines as additional armour support.

Nice! I would have sawed off the broken track bits and mounted it to a base (sawed off side down) and made it a terrain feature. |

Nice vehicles! I really like your Colonial Marines. I have a bunch of them too. |

When I was a kid I made an M3 Grant tank in to a sci-fi vehicle by painting it metallic blue and silver. |

Thanks. At least with the Scimitar's my main way of sci-fi'ing up them was by swapping the main gun for a Gatling…. Though these days you seem to able to sci-fi any WWII tank by adding skullz and spikze! |

I did something similar, however I bought and converted my Airfix Saracens rather then use old models link

Normally I'd say go for unbuilt, because pre-built limit your options and can end up with near total garbage, but in this case it was cheaper to buy the bulk lot for turret than buy the kit. |
