Lets see SYW, Napoleonics, WWII, VSF, AWI, not necessarily in that order.

The poll fits in with the most popular postings (go to the home page for all the stats).

I would have thought Fantasy far higher, but this may represent selection bias amongst those sampled…?

Science Fiction and Fantasy are a genre not a period.

Historical is a genre. WWII is an era.

No overwhelming results for any particular period and obviously a few more under the top five.

I'm always surprised at the popularity of ACW as this is an era that try as I may I cannot find interesting.

Maybe it's the uniforms, the sides and the terrain being the same all the way through?

Hi Phil, You live in Great Britain and don't have access to the hundreds of ACW battlefields that exist in America. If you lived here I suspect you would have a greater interest. Same is true for me. If I lived in GB, I'd be full speed ahead with the English wars, Europe and Colonial.
Best, Lowell

I live in the western US, I don't find the ACW very interesting, either.

Especially not after finding out Great-great-grandpa was at Gettysburg, in the 4th Maine Volunteer Infantry. Of 1440 Mainers in that Regiment, there were a total of 187 in the line at G'Burg.

Concur with Unlucky General's assessment.

Also, anecdotally, that is what I see at the cons I attend. Lots of different people running different games in different genres.

Also, that's what I enjoy.

:)
