July 4th, 1863, in an alternate timeline.
General Lee addresses his officers:
"Well gentlemen, we have achieved a great victory here at Gettysburg today, and General Stuart is even now leading the pursuit toward York, which, God willing, we shall capture in a few days.
"The bridge across the Susqehanna still holds, and General Stuart's scouts have informed us that there are boats for taking, to which a cavalry detachment has already been despatched. So we shall then cross the river and storm Lancaster, which is lightly defended and will easily become ours.
"Then comes the real work before we can invest Philadephia. The Federals are heavily dug in, and we shall have to first survive Blue Ball and then drive hard through Intercourse.
"We may have to pull out of Intercourse and await reinforcements, but then we shall go in again. And out again if necessary, but then back in immediately, and hard. Yes, the climax of the battle shall be a great thrust by the army, exploding into the Federal ranks.
"The road to Philadelphia will then be open, but the men will first need to pause for a cigarette and a short nap."
