I just hit something today mentioning that the "Tappan Massacre" of 1777 took place on--Overkill Road. If I did that in an invented scenario--"proceed down Overkill Road and camp for the night"--my players would think I'd gone too far. It would be like deploying my army on Cemetery Ridge.
How many other places can we come up with which had suitable names before they fought the battle?

Chickamauga means 'River of Death'. Of course every Indian word means 'River of Death' depending on the source.

On a serious note…off the top of my head, Wounded Knee, maybe.

July 4th, 1863, in an alternate timeline.

General Lee addresses his officers:

"Well gentlemen, we have achieved a great victory here at Gettysburg today, and General Stuart is even now leading the pursuit toward York, which, God willing, we shall capture in a few days.

"The bridge across the Susqehanna still holds, and General Stuart's scouts have informed us that there are boats for taking, to which a cavalry detachment has already been despatched. So we shall then cross the river and storm Lancaster, which is lightly defended and will easily become ours.

"Then comes the real work before we can invest Philadephia. The Federals are heavily dug in, and we shall have to first survive Blue Ball and then drive hard through Intercourse.

"We may have to pull out of Intercourse and await reinforcements, but then we shall go in again. And out again if necessary, but then back in immediately, and hard. Yes, the climax of the battle shall be a great thrust by the army, exploding into the Federal ranks.

"The road to Philadelphia will then be open, but the men will first need to pause for a cigarette and a short nap."

And who can forget the time the French Foreign Legion was ordered to Long Đống, north of Hanoi?

The Regiment's XO advised the company commander assigned to search and destroy, "The place is full of Viet Minh. You'll have to squeeze hard, Capitaine, until you rub them all out."

Wow, need a cigarette and a shower after that!

The Strasburg Rail Road (Pennsylvania) does run to Paradise by way of Intercourse.

WooHoo, turns out they didn't go out of business just moved. Still gonna operate under that rather unfortunate choice of a name.
