Do you dig out your copies of wargaming magazines from years past and read them again? |
Whirlwind | 20 Mar 2019 1:03 p.m. PST |
Yes, usually to mine for useful scenarios, sometimes to use an old set of rules or read an old opinion piece. |

I'll pull out a few issues of Dragon that I kept for specific articles, adventures, or included games. Occasionally I wind up re-reading other articles in them. A little bit I wish I had kept my entire run, but I gave it to a younger cousin years ago. Still, I'm glad he got to enjoy them too. |

When I am looking for inspiration or a touch of nostalgia I often dig out my old collection of Don Featherstone's Wargamer's Newsletter. There wasn't much locally in the way of wargaming when I was a boy growing up on the Canadian prairies so Don's monthly mag was my life line to the hobby. The third week of every month I would race home from school for lunch so I could check the mail. |

Yes -especially articles on uniforms. |

Certainly. Sometimes I'll bring them in from the garage 100 or so at a time. I'm looking for rules or scenarios, mostly, when it's not just random enjoyment. It's another problem with the postponed flea markets, because for choice the first thing I do at a convention is pick up some old wargaming magazines to read that afternoon and evening. |

Gave away all my old dragons…issue 12-200 or so, at a con. I still have my old couriers and drag them out every so often. Lots of S&T, I occassionally pull out thinking i might give the game a shot. |
Skeets | 20 Mar 2019 2:47 p.m. PST |
Yes I do and just recently after going to a lecture on the Fenian Raid into Canada by the book's author. I vaguely remembered an article in WI. The next day I went through my backlog of issue and located an article on the history of the raid and another article with rules to game it! |

Yes, Very frequently. Especially for opinions when I start a new period. MWAN, Courier, Tradition, Military Modelling, Wargames, WSS, Historical Miniature Mag, Panzerfaust, SYW Journals (old printed versions), Battlefield, just to name a few. Investments! |

I sold most of mine off. Saved a few for scenarios but rarely go back even to them. |

I personally wish my collection was in PDF for easier storage. LOL MY 3 sets of White Dwarf alone would help so much. And the WI i am thinking of starting, but i hate the way they do the electronic version of their mag. Grimm |

Strangely enough, just one specific magazine. The August 1977 issue of Wargamer's Digest. It's the only issue of WD I ever purchased. Not really sure why, because I've enjoyed this one quite a bit. Particularly liked the "Battle Stations" section, where a tactical situation on the tabletop is described and a tantalizingly vague photograph of the tabletop deployment is included as well. The reader is invited to "solve" the tactical puzzle and a solution is provided later in the magazine. Of course, there are several interesting articles, also. Heck, even the old ads are fun to look at! |
ZULUPAUL | 21 Mar 2019 1:48 a.m. PST |
Occasionally. Currently going through old mags to see what can be gotten rid of. |
surdu2005 | 21 Mar 2019 2:11 a.m. PST |
I have a complete set of Miniature Wargames from issue number 1 to the present. I do not read them, and I would give them a good home, but I want to do so as a complete set, not in dribs and drabs. If anyone is interested, let me know. |

etotheipi | 21 Mar 2019 6:04 a.m. PST |
Yes. Not as often as I would like, sadly. BTW, I would count rereading electronic and online articles as part of rereading your old wargaming magazines. UseNet in the 80's, baby! |

Nope. Because I have no house room for them. Having said that, I have kept about 5 or so "special" magazines that mean something to me. If I were to keep anything, it would be WSS as I like the "theme" method. |
79thPA | 21 Mar 2019 7:42 a.m. PST |
I still have all of my MWANs, but I got rid of just about everything else. |
