The French advancing plus casualties look very tempting.

I have started adding these figures to my armies. They are excellent.

Markconz19 Mar 2019 3:01 a.m. PST

Beautiful figures!

Artilleryman,

Can you post some figures? The ones in the link are too good to be true.

Widowson29 Mar 2019 2:21 p.m. PST

I mean post some photographs.

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP29 Mar 2019 2:36 p.m. PST

I don't have any of his Napoleonics, but I have painted some of his 30YW figures.
And the pictures doesn't lie, at least not the resin.
I do think some detail is lost on the metal versions.

Sadly the previews are not always what we see in the final releases, all too often.

Not surprising. Casting simply could not achieve the undercuts we see on things like the lace work

Widowson said it….…too good to be true….unless they really are of course

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP30 Mar 2019 1:21 a.m. PST

As I said the resin is exactly as the phots show.

SteveWalsh19 Sep 2020 1:46 a.m. PST

I have all of the resin and metal produced so far, I am making a collection a bit like a catalogue of one of each, so far I have painted most of the metal French figures and they can be seen at Mezzers Minnies shop. I have only painted one resin foot figure and in comparison with the metal it is hard to see any difference at all, the metal figures are in my opinion the same with maybe one or two percent less crisp detail purely because of the way metal cools, the pictures on the FB page are actual examples not computer renditions and are as good as they look. The only example of significant difference is the gun barrels, they are supplied with resin barrels but cast bronze barrels can be ordered separately and they are maybe 6% smaller and only noticeable when placed side by side. I have to say that I normally just paint 18mm AB figures for customers But when these Avanpost figures came n the scene I was astonished at the detail and could not believe it, so ordered the first few resin and metal figures, I was so impressed that I decided to collect one of each just for the pleasure of painting them. It is an absolute pleasure dealing with Oleg and he treats every individual with the utmost courtesy,I have never had such superb service from any manufacturer before or since.

Link opened first time now having difficulty. Beautiful figures, what scale are these?

MarbotsChasseurs19 Sep 2020 9:34 a.m. PST

The resin figures look exactly like the pictures. Beautiful miniatures. I just received about 50 figures in resin and they look identical to any preview picture if not better in person. I wish I had a better camera than my phone, but they are the most detailed figures I have ever had.

SHaT198419 Sep 2020 10:53 p.m. PST

Still haven't seen them….

MarbotsChasseurs21 Sep 2020 8:33 a.m. PST

Here are some pictures of a Grenadier Officer and Perry Nco next to each other front and back, a Carabiner and Chasseur Officer, two Fusilier Officers, one wounded fusilier, and a Mounted Chef de bat. of a Legere regiment. This was taken on my cellphone with little light and no background and the details still are amazing. So if this isn't enough proof for you I don't know what is.

Cooments.
Gorgets didn't last long under Empire. If you're going to do infantry soldiers without shako cords, the gorgets would be long gone. So inconsistent.
Super square toed boots?

Officers bearskin looks a little under size/height (sbould be towering 50-70mm over a shako)?

But how do they scale, I cant tell from the pics given.
Can you show us at 28mm elevation?

Thanks anyway, look promising, thankfully I'm committed so unable to use them.

Dave,

I put a 28mm Perry Miniature next to an Avanpost Miniature in the first pic. Second, all the officers are wearing cords with a gorget so I don't understand what you mean. I do the 1809 period so cords and gorgets work well for me. The square boots seems to be only on a few miniatures, but overall the miniatures are more detailed than Perry and slightly slimmer and shorter, but still fit The in a unit.

I will take a pic tomorrow of a Perry officer in surtout and an Avanpost Miniature officer in surtout side by side.

SHaT198422 Sep 2020 1:04 a.m. PST

Thanks, FWIW, Well I dont have any Perry- neither plastic nor metal; I have WF, Hinchliffe and AWI Front Rank.
So no measure or comparison with just your pix.

Ok is it the Perry that has no cords? I should have deleted the comment then.

No early chasseurs or cavalry as yet…or team horses for the limbers.

Having been bitten this way before I never order figures unless the range already included everything I'll need…

MarbotsChasseurs22 Sep 2020 5:26 a.m. PST

From left to right we have an Perry officer in surtout, Avanpost officer in surtout, Avanpost officer in full dress, Perry infantry, Avanpost fusilier advancing, and a Perry chasseur advancing I painted ( I will stick with 6mm!) You can see the Avanpost miniatures are skinnier and smaller just by a little. I hope this helps.

Are resin figures tough enough for years of wargaming?

MarbotsChasseurs23 Sep 2020 3:15 a.m. PST

Well I have heavy hands and I already broke two sword knots off so I am not sure. The other parts of the figures seem to be strong. I would say since the Perry Miniatures as just slighty thicker, they would be more durable in the long run. I haven't wagramed with the Avanpost miniatures yet. Hopefully, someone else will comment on that.

Thanks M. that pic is superb,
I agree they do look very good.
Basing makes all the differemce to durability, I note they are also slightly smaller, as they have thicker bases.

However the lack of lead alloy in metal models is also causing some pain. Where a different pose or movement is required of a horse, it used to be easy to reshape.

This year alone, and never before, I've cracked the legs of two work in progress horses; and just today I found my light regiments have succumbed at some point and two have snapped front legs off the bases. Bleeped text!

I recently received a small batch of these via Mezzers Minis in the UK – the service was very efficient. The metal figures are probably the best I have ever seen – very crisp and very detailed.
