To do skirmishes like this movie, best 28mm figures for sailors, Marines, German Soldiers and Hussars (Mounted and dismounted), Royal Palace Guard, Mounted Berbers, dismounted Berbers, Berber extras, US civilians, and of course lions. I see that Old Glory make an 1898 and Pancho Villa line; Or are the Boxer Rebellion Marines better? 1898 Miniatures Americans? Artizan make WW1 Arabs but what of lines Like Brigade Games "Caribbean Empires"? Great War is the only source for Pickelhaubed Germans? What of the palace Guard? What else have people seen that I am missing? |

I mean, to be clear. I wanted to do a few different colonial theaters that would leave me with these figures for "The WInd and the Lion" (TWATL) and not do JUST for a Wind and the Lion collection. So, If I did 1898 SAW skirmish, could I use the Americans for US marines for TWATL? Maybe some WW1 Palestine or French Foreign Legion skirmish might leave me the Bedouins for WATL etc. |

Ironically, everything you'd want--right down to "Mrs. Perdicaris" and her children are available in 15mm from the "Perdicaris Alive or Raisuli Dead!" range: link TVAG |

Askari Miniatures stuff seems nicely sculpted. Never actually held one. I think even the Askari Miniatures Spahis can work for palace guards in more active poses. That's a good suggestion. Wow…just, wow!: link Rif Miniatures? Link please? Also, are these good for the American Marines in caps seen in the movie?: link |

MiniPigs, Here are some of the Askari Miniatures figures. link The battalion in line in front are Tirailleurs Algerien while the battalion in column to your right rear are Zouaves. The other battalion is Old Glory Boxer Rebellion French sailors. Although readily visible, of the far right is a comamnd stand including one of the Askari Miniatures Spahi standing on guard figure with a flowing white cloak. He's a very impressive figure. Jim |

sorry I misspelled the correct name is Rif war miniatures and can be found here: link I have not seen them in flesh/lead/Metal, some 20 years later than Raisuli but at least geographically correct. I am afraid that old glory miniatures will not match well with all the rest, since they are 25/28mm while the rest are modern 28mm. Gringo's 40 has some interesting figures in their other ranges like Tonkin, that may be useful. Just for Information;s sake there is a range of WW1 germans with pickelhaub, but is OOP ???, by Renegade miniatures their website is closed. They were also taller than the others. askari sultan's guard: link othe source for americans is Tiger miniatures: link pickelhaube germans can be found in mutton chop miniatures i.e. empress miniauters here: link |

The main problem with Old Glory is that you have to buy them by the 30 count. Are the Old Glory Spanish American War and Boxer Rebellion figures better sculpts than the Tiger Miniatures? I keep reading all this commentary that Tiger minis are "rough"? I was looking at Castaway Arts Berbers. Seem a little pricey. link

I have some Askari castings, they are very good figures nicely proportioned and well casted. But-- they are no the smaller side of 25/28 mm business. Looking at the link given by Wackmole9 the Askari were too small to use with Brigade Games or Cobblestone figures which I already had. |
