With TY getting an update in this two years, it seems the plan is to make it identical to FOW V4. Fate of a Nation appears to have that merge already done. I'm curious if people have already begun to use V4/FoaN rules with Team Yankee? As far as I can tell most of the changes are minor. The biggest ones I found are Command Distance, Last Stand/Good Spirits, and Artillery rules. |

Started playing TY with FOAN. It's a much better game. With 40% of your points allocated to reserves instead of half your units, NATO is stronger on defense. |

I was under the impression that FoW v4 was the Team Yankee rules tweeked…. |

They are, but some of the differences are mildly significant. Artillery firing is affected by Gone to Ground. The number of weapons apply a to-hit modifier, instead of simply being reroll hits or reroll misses. Also, aircraft don't get to ignore being only 1-2 weapons firing, so they always have a +1/+2 penalty unless you want to bring 4 aircraft. Morale in TY is checked every time you finish a Shooting/Assault Step where the unit is not in Good Spirits and took casualties, not at the Starting Step. So you could be taking twice as many checks if the unit continues to take losses, but only one if the unit isn't attacked further. In addition, aircraft units need two to be in Good Spirits, so most units taking a single hit are now testing. Formation Good Spirits require one unit to be in Good Spirits on the table, excluding the HQ. This makes a deployed formation tougher, but if you can only put one unit on the table and they're lost, then game over. Reserves also work the old way of having half your units in Reserve, instead of it being at least 40% of your force's points. Then I'm sure there's other details here and there, but these are the ones I've found. |

Are 'Nam and FoaN the same? I wonder if the forthcoming Oil Wars will have these rule updates? |

Mkultra99 it looks like 'Nam and FoaN are identical. From what I've seen Oil War is a force book, not new rules. Given this discussion I think I'll point my local community toward V4 rules. |

Oil Wars is just a supplement book contain rules for using Iran, Iraq, Israel and Syria in the team yankee setting That takes care of the Iran-Iraq War and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, but would OW also cover the Gulf War 1 (Desert Storm) campaign, with new rules for the M1A1 Abrams, M2 Bradley and AH-64A Apache? |

No Oil War does not cover the fits Gulf war its just Iran, Iraq Syria and Israeli in the Team Yankee time line (so 1986) however their has been talk of a new American book coming out either the end of this year or early next year that will include the M1A1, Bradley and maybe Apache But remember Team Yankee is 1986 |

Well, 1985 actually since it's part of John Hackett's WWIII August 1985 universe.

Yes, we are playing Fate of a Nation a lot and the rules are very smooth. We are thinking of doing Team Yankee with FoaN rules. |
