Who makes the best ready-for-the-tabletop model trees?

K&M are very, very nice.

Woodland Classics by Woodland Scenics. They come in three different sizes in. They have a wide variety of tree types. They are pre-flock and if you don't abuse them they will last for years. They are the best trees I have ever used. They are ready for the table right of the box. However you may want to glue them to a metal base for better stability. I get them at Hobby Lobby.

In my opinion Hovels makes the best palm trees. They come in three sizes and are painted, ready to put on the table right out of box.

I have yet to find another that makes a superior product.

My favourite are from 4Ground. Tough enough for wargamers.

You will want base them for games, but being MDF specialists, they provide all of the bits for this in with each tree.

(One of those topics where subjective and objective will get mixed up?)
I won't say "best" because that says they are better than all the others available. That would meed to be criterion referenced?

My personal criteria would be
1. Look nice
2. Robust (140+ game uses per year). Lasted 15 years so far.
3. Used for 15mm battles not 25mm skirmishes.
4.Can be packed for shows and travel in a small space without any damage
5. Easy to move around the table to make space for unit manoevre etc.

Based on those limited criteria.
For 15mm games I use the following.

I use the 15mm short trunk trees from
(got about 160)

How is "the best" defined? It ain't a 400 meter run…

Very good point Lonkka.

If the trees were ents we could race them and see who won a 400 meter run/step

I do like Woodland Scenics …

Even if they don't make Ents …

rustymusket08 Mar 2019 8:22 a.m. PST

I use mostly Woodland Scenics, but they are easy and available. Others might be better.

Bachmanns Scenescapes. Wire armatures preflocked.

I am valuing durability over realism. Clump foliage is constantly falling off my Woodland Scenics trees. Its inevitable, even using the tacky glue and additional super glue.

I decided to go with something different as I start to venture out into more 28mm size collections. I just made these up.

I made wide flat bases from plywood. The flock will come off these, but I sprayed them liberally with scenic cement and they are now rock solid. There will be little to no shedding.

Not perfectly table top ready but the small effort is worth the results.

TreeGirl makes the best trees.

Scale 6mm -30 mm games.
Durable, actually stepped on and just bent it back into shape.
Look good on the table.

I'll go with Tree Girl. But I'll also say that a great tree isn't the point. What we need are forests which look like forests, which means different trees but compatible--not the single tree which would win the "best in show" award.

And a Martin has pointed out, we need trees we can toss into a bag at the end of a game and not worry about. I'll trade a pound of "just perfect" for an ounce of "still good in ten years."

PrivateSnafu08 Mar 2019 2:07 p.m. PST

This looks like a good value for realistic trees to use with 28mm figures. $40 USD for 10.

We always use 'The Last Valley' trees.

A forest is only as good as its trees.

AICUSV10 Mar 2019 1:27 p.m. PST

For 10/15mm I just got 20 trees for $9.99 USD from Wal-Mart (on line). Note: they don't come with the bases

AICUSV11 Mar 2019 12:48 p.m. PST

Just of Green Stuff World's eBay store, they had the same trees 20 for $5.97 USD
