And there's another thing -- clutched in his hand was a shank of coarse dark hair, like some kind of animal fur…Mr. 'olmes, it seems some terrible beast has done this thing!"

Yes, there's been a lot of weird stuff since Holmes went into public domain. I have a book of Holmes/Cthulhu stories myself. But Sir Arthur has assured me, via my Ouija board, that this is exactly what he had in mind.
