Looks like the poor G.I.'s never stood a chance. Walking straight into MG42 fire head-on is never a good idea. The thing I dislike about solo campaigns is that they have a certain "scripted inevitability" to them due to their programmed nature.

I am not sure I agree. This campaign, designed for head-to-head play, is just as scripted for one player as for two. I think other campaigns can throw up more truly strange occurrences when they are multi-player, but for the same reasons, are more likely to collapse.
