Best ACW Political General?

And in the final round:

32% said "Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain"
19% said "Nathan Bedford Forrest"
14% said "Patrick Ronayne Cleburne"

Ignoring all the Union Generals who became POTUS. I couldn't think of any worse political generals than Cleburne and Forrest. Cleburne killed his career by advocating freeing the slaves and Forrest threatened to kill his commanding officer. I don't call that practicing politics.

More to the point just how are any of these three "Political Generals"

Forrest and Cleburne enlisted as Privates and Chamberlain was so ambitious he turned down command of the 20th Maine because he felt he didn't know enough.

Appears to me that 65% of those polling need to read a bit more before clicking their mice!

Yeah, I repeatedly pointed out that Chamberlain did not qualify as a 'political general' by the standards of the poll which was looking for generals who got their position due to political influence. Chamberlain got there through skill and grit.

To be honest looking at the names put forward only Breckenridge and Logan qualify and neither of them were the best, nor worst come to that!
