Not altogether rare. These were produced in ridiculous numbers during WWII. I'm not sure these were Framburg. More likely Comet, who went on to become Authenticast, who went on to become Superior. Sets like this crop up from time to time. The real hen's teeth are the ones done in 1/600 instead of 1/1200.

They are nice, but the metal alloy that was used is rather prone to lead rot.

A friend of mine tells a story, from back when he was in the navy. Sometime in the 70's he and 3 friends drove across the base on personal errands. Some guys were loading boxes like these onto a deuce and a half. One of them fell and broke open. The first class running the detail explained they were being taken to a barge to be dumped at sea. The first said they could have all they wanted, but he could only hold the truck for about 20 minutes. The car the guys came in was a VW bug. 4 guys loaded as many boxes as they could fit in the front boot, on the floors and on their laps. The car barely cleared the ground. The truck was still nearly full and there wasn't time for a second trip.

My friend describes this as one of the saddest days of his life.

I have exactly the same set in exactly the same type
