Hello, I have in mind to start a project with miniatures of 3mm Oddzial Osmy, and the question arises when using one or other rules. The question is that seeing comments, the rules that I like the most are Grande Armee by Sam Mustafa and General du Division-Marechal du Empire by Polemos. The latter attracts me more because of the idea of being able to play at the same level with the same set of rules. The idea is, being a regulation for 6mm, divide everything in half, but I do not know if it would work well. I am also open to other rules, because maybe one is more specific for this scale or I happened to see it. |

Very few historical rules are specific to a scale of figures so I doubt that you should let your chosen scale limit the rules that you use in any way. 3mm are ideal if you do want to use smaller bases but there is no necessity to do so. I know people who use the same base sizes intended for 28mm figures but use 3mm ones – each base is a large diorama. |

Some people are using Blucher with 3mm. |

Grand Armee and Marechal d'Empire are about the same scale If you go for 3cm bases you should be able to play GA at 1 cm to the inch. Polemos of course uses Base Width as the measure so any base size will work. The only catch is the 3 x 1.5 cm is quite small (fiddly, I'd say), so you might want to look at 4cm basing if space is an issue. If space is not an issue, I'd seriously consider using 6cm bases. You'd need to make up some rulers with 2cm "inches" on them for GA, but other than that the conversion is simple. Cheers David |
