I've checked out the message boards for info on this campaign, but most of the links are no longer valid. Does anyone have, or point me in the right direction, of OOB for both sides of this campaign. I just fancy fighting a civil war battle |

That is a nice site…thanks for linking. Read somewhere a story (which may be invented or apocryphal, as these things often are) that after the Second Restoration one of the Rochejaquelein family went to see Louis to obtain rewards for his followers. 'The war in the Vendee?' scoffs Louis..'Nothing happened there. There were only four shots fired.' Rochejaquelein replied, 'Then it's most unlucky, Sire, that one of those shots killed my brother and another wounded me.' |

Funny you should ask. Today I just received my copy of a new book about that campaign by Rob Harper. Fighting the French Revolution: The Great Vendee Rising of 1795 Found it on Amazon. It has loads of maps of various battles, detailed accounts of them, OOBs sometimes down to the number of effectives in a battalion and number of artillery pieces at least for the Republicans. Bios of divisional commanders and above. General losses were really high, the Republicans though mostly were executed by Paris. Anyhow great book. |

Drat! That's yet another title I have to add to my to buy list. But it is good to see new titles emerging covering the actions and campaigns of the failed rebellions against the young French Republic. Could only find one review, which was a positive one, and, as yet, there does not seem to be any on the Amazon sites. |
