Are you replacing older, lower quality, harder to read dice with improved dice?

I did my D6 pip dice. Replaced with number D6 dice. Easier on my eyes.

I don't know about older and lower quality, but I went through all the dice sorting and bagging, discarding all multi-color and transparent, and repainting numbers and pips as necessary to ensure contrast. I also ensured that all regular D6's had pips and all DAV had numbers, and that all logos were in the "6" position--except for fantasy armies, where they were all in the "1" position.

Only thing left is custom logos for Dwarves and Vichy French, I think.

I began using Dice Towers, to ensure more random numbers. Beyond that, no. Here are a couple of links to some videos (d4-d20, and a handful of polyhedral dice rolling) I helped produce, which demonstrate one of the reasons why I began using a Dice Tower. They also help keep them under control, and off of the gaming table's figures and terrain (and the floor…)! Cheers!

Long ago.

Those Edmunds Scientific polyhedral dice were amazingly soft plastic — the D12s became balls of endless rolling in pretty short order!

For others, I've always avoided hard-to read ones.

Also I've always avoided Chessex. They round their corners excessivly to shave costs. Greatly prefer Koplow dice. Cheap Yahtzee type D6 ar the best for size and pretty square edges that roll pretty evenly.

Gamers and their dice fetish.

I, too, prefer the numbered dice to pip dice. Not an older thing, though. I find it hard to find 6-siders in numbered.

My Windows 95 dice work perfectly well, and I don't see any need to upgrade. Thank you.

Thank you to Jeff Ewing for the link to real, if limited, science. I look forward to reading Sgt. Slag's links later today, time permitting.

No, I'm just buying more dice. I especially like the ugly color ones that are also easy to read. Opponents are drawn to them to see the roll then their courage is broken by the colors.
