I was in Pittsburgh, PA this past weekend for a conference. I had the opportunity to check out the Fort Pitt Museum and blockhouse, which was across the street from my hotel. A small but very well done museum, with an emphasis on the French and Indian War era. Well worth a stop if you are in Pittsburgh.

Be aware that it closes quite early at 5. My daughter and I were caught out by this on a visit to Carnegie Mellon last year.

Also, the little museum on the Monongahela battlefield is not open everyday and we couldn't make that work either.

Great Thai food at Nicky's Thai Kitchen on Penn Avenue though. Amazing Books (that's the name of the shop) on Liberty Avenue was good too.

I was there in the '90s, I agree an excellent museum, well worth a visit.

Nice museum. Changed a lot over the years. I kind of grew up there. The blockhouse has changed a lot too.
