Some photos of my second OP Compass, 'Battle of the Camps' games, Tummar West in 6mm fought solo. My previous game, 'Nibeiwa camp' was at company level. For this I returned to my favoured battalion level game with Rapid Fire orbats and Blitzkrieg Commander rules used. The camp was defended by 3 infantry battalions of the 2nd Libyan Division supported by various artillery units. Having travelled over from Nibeiwa, the attacking force consisted of Matilda tanks of the 7th RTR, the 1st battalion Royal Fusiliers, 3rd bn 1st Punjab Regt and 3 x 25pdrs providing off-table support. The Italians made the same mistake as at Nibeiwa with the bulk of their defences facing south leaving the track entrance to the north west corner vulnerable. The Matildas lead the charge entering the camp along the track and punching through the camp's outer defences. The Italians never really recovered and although some units held out well, the collapse was inevitable. A full AAR with more photos is on my blog grymauch.blogspot.com

A very impressive game! Wow! Beautiful figures. Really tops. Beautiful terrain too. A well constructed scenario. Well played by both sides. The rules seem to have flowed well enough (nothing recounted about rules hiccups or conflicting interpretations). There is much to examine and study in the pics and the story. I am really impressed. None of which would have been obvious without the attention you have paid to the photography, and the AAR storytelling. For which I thank you. TMP forums (well, actually your blog) at it's best! -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

Many thanks for your comment Mark. There were a few rules hiccups mainly caused by me! Nothing that would have materially changed the outcome though. |
