First of the new stuff. The bare chested mortar crew are clearly now feeling the chill and are better kitted out. The originals were a Godsend to me though, as great conversion potential. M29 A1 81mm mortar I think……anyone know about painting the mortar bombs? Fuse cap I think in bare metal. Any other markings? I assume the containers are metal, so again bare metal on the inner edges of those already opened?

The mortar group is amazing. Looking at the guy with his hands over his ears, you can almost hear the sound of the mortar. Plenty of animation and action in this set |

Well he kept teasing us and suddenly today we know what is coming next. The US in Saigon "retaking" the Embassy which of course was captured by the VC attackers….course it was. Press Corps said so, so it must have been true. Clever to include "civilians" AKA CIA and Embassy staffers. Those MP helmets though…..numerals and stripes….gulp (or Glup as Tango puts it).

I can just see this chap posed next to a white wall with a hole blown through it at ground level…or next to one of those oddly shaped concrete flower tubs (so 60s in design). But I suspect, in the latter case, he would not be standing around waving to the enemy. |
