He is teasing us. I predict a bunch of anti-war demonstrators, REMs from Saigon and Westmoreland in his morning of Tet smartest rig….or maybe not… It is like Christmas though. I know what I want, I have dropped many a hint and I have been reasonably good all year |

There are missing Marine poses….that just are Tet in Hue There are still also a few iconic characters for Tet in Hue that no one does. One is so obvious and I could do him in minutes with Greenstuff. Why has everyone missed him? So I will convert if needed……I am just holding on to see what is coming. I do have the "parts" needed, if he does not appear. I have no idea what Ged will release…seriously. I just post his pics for him. I would KILL for a preview….. Two months ago I knew nothing about Hue other than BBC News 50 years ago. Now I can place every one of Olsen's photos of the Dong Ba Tower in sequence, let alone many others that appear at random on these photo sharing things. Incredible how poor are the analyses of photos on "Social Media" or "Photo sharing" or whatever it is called. Pinterest commentaries are terrible. Every gate on the Citadel is the Dong Ba Tower for just one example…..however different the wreckage looks |

Well we saw these painted up in their bareheaded version, exchanging a message. I suspect once in Hue not too much headwear in practice, but I will express a preference for these two. They just look like VC/NVA

thanks Liam…I too prefer the helmeted versions cheers Ged gringo40s.com |

and here is another one painted up. I doubt there was a bush hat amongst the NVA in Hue….let alone a helmet. Never seen one in the few pictures of those still breathing. but is how I imagine the stereotyped VN. NVA in the helmet, Mainforce VC in the bush hat and local VC in the coolie hat if anything…however wrong.

What? You mean these painted up? Seems there are many more painted figures to come. This I would like to think I played some part in inspiring (you might all be amazed how makers will listen to you if you only suggest);

Yeah !!!! The M72 LAW is a great light weapon to use in the assault at structures, bunkers, etc., and even AFVs[but you have to aim for tracks, rear or top]. |

Input and support? Pah. Christmas is coming…. Whaddywe want? More Marines. When do we want them?. Before Christmas basically. To the tune of Adeste Fideles "Oh why are we waiting, why are we waiting… etc?" |

Here is the snag. I have all the new Marines, plus some duplicates, painted…. But I cannot base them yet until I see what is about to come pre Christmas. Basically, I have the Dong Ba Tower done (and this could be my best yet) but the figures are just sitting there. My Sgt Thoms is some of my best work….tho' I say so I have sawed the new figures to pieces….because I simply cannot leave miniatures of this quality unconverted. I have duplicates from the original release and now want to saw them up much further. I had planned a Walter Cronkite conversion, but then realised that one figure is absolutely the image of him. He actually looks too fat faced and old for a Marine, but for WC….no work needed other than remove the grenade. I will now make a camera team…unless of course…. I cannot believe the resemblance with no work at all on his face…. I seriously have absolutely no more idea than the rest of you. I know what I want. I have tried to incorporate my few Empress figures, just as prone casualties/dead, but I still find the discrepancy in size makes them unmixable… Even as ARVN, they still look like much smaller scale as the helmets and weapons are so tiny. How I wish they could be mixed, but I am now convinced you make your decision and that is how you go….personally. |

From the earlier release of the assault team. I did not show this chap painted up. Minor difference, instead of two spare LAWs he carries one and his M16.

Sneak preview of a couple of the latest. At last we get folk actually using their M60s and not just looking threatening with them. That kneeling chap looks awfully familiar and the chap with him…..how well cast are those bullets? Mine are on order, with multiples of some as the conversion potential is massive. Many in this range come with separate arms which often means even a saw is unnecessary. Allowing for two or three figures in some sets I think I have now counted 52 different figures for Marines even before chopping and swapping. Important that the range has expanded like this, because I am not sure they mix with other 28mm Vietnam War figures. Personally, I am totally committed now to them but have a few Full Metal Miniatures figs on order (they may match).

Two more now from Ged. He tells me the Blooper grenadier has the characteristic Marine belt to carry the ammo. I do think I recall US Army using something like a vest covered in such pockets? I did comment above on the quality of the bullets in the M60 ammo belts. It seems each is individually cast!

Thanks. That was the vest I recall but seems it was only for the M203 and not the M79 after all. I got it wrong yet again….. Seems the M48 long promised is about to appear from Gringos40. Painted up here with added kit that will come with the model it seems. I would be very interested to know what scale was adopted for this AFV. Seems to be much debate what 28mm figures actually correspond to

and now we see the M48A3 with lots more kit on it. It seems this is how it will look on release. All we need now is the poor chap getting the IVI from the medic corpsman with the octopus in his helmet band….and I am convinced he did not make it, despite Mark Bowden's great book. A glass bottle of plasma…that takes me back! link

I was intrigued to see Full Metal Miniatures portrayed their corpsman in the stretcher party carrying a plasma bottle and with the octopus in his head band. I think a conversion for this famous scene would be beyond my sawing and gluing skills. The medic himself, to this day, has no doubt about any recovery hope. |
