I want to do a New Zealand infantry platoon for the Western Desert campaigns of '41, '42. What kind of headgear would they be wearing: standard British helmet, Wolsely helmets,India Pattern Sun helmets or Lemon Squezer hats? I can't find any decent photographic evidence so I hope some of you can help out here. Thanks! |

Ok, I figured it out. I will do a Maori platoon in standard helmets and a Kiwi platoon in standard helmets with some hats sprinkled in to distinguish them as New Zealanders. Case closed.. :-) |

Would there be NZ hats – e.g. link at Crete for the New Zealand around Maleme? Mix with helmets? Most photos I see are helmets. |

it's like the 14th Army. You do those in slouch hats, even though they would have worn tin lids in combat. it is all part of the distinct 'look' we want for our unit's/armies. |
