Does anyone make French Chasseurs/Dragons Portes for 1940 in the adrian helmet and tunic similar to the Crusader figures in 28mm (e.g., link). I have consulted the "usual suspects" and can't seem to find anything to suite.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Maha Bandula19 Feb 2019 2:22 a.m. PST

Les Armées Oubliées does them: link

More pictures of the figures can be found here: link

Maha Bandula and Serge: Thanks, they are exactly what I am looking for… I have just contacted him about ordering. Have either of you ordered from him?

John: me too! I am still waiting on my early war Germans from Kelly's Heroes (I hope soon).

Just as a follow up -- I received a prompt and cordial response from Guilem and have placed an order with him. Thanks, Maha Bandula and Serge, for pointing me in the right direction!

Maha Bandula21 Feb 2019 10:59 p.m. PST

Good to know! Please share pictures once you've painted up the goodies.

Serge6922 Feb 2019 3:05 a.m. PST

His next figures will be finnish soldiers for Continuation war 1941-45

guilhemdelyon24 Feb 2019 1:59 a.m. PST

thank Serge and Maha Bandula.
Of course this french dragons portés can be paint as chasseurs portés. If you paint the trousers in blue they will be excellent.

I have produce also french legion (3 set), Dragons portés for side car team, dragons portés sitting in vehicule, and 3 moderns set (1 irakis of saddam and 2 of syrians of El Assad, they can be used for other country).

I have create also french tank crew for me and retrokit france, and wounded soldiers (french, german, russian an english).

I am waiting my new project : french artillery team, finish soldiers.
I am working on modern french , and officer and relaxe french for 1940, than French african soldiers FFL and chasseur alpin to Narvik battle.

Best regards, I am happy to find this new forum.

Maha Bandula24 Feb 2019 2:29 a.m. PST

Excellent news! When do you intend to release the FFL Africans? Also, any plans for Vichy troops to oppose Operations Exporter and Ironclad?

Serge6924 Feb 2019 7:30 a.m. PST

Yes, french troops for Syria, Madagascar or Indochina!!!

guilhemdelyon24 Feb 2019 10:26 a.m. PST

You are very anthousiastic, but I dont know if there is a lot of buyer for that?
For the Vichy troop you can used the french dragons or chasseurs portés, painted in blue.

Maha Bandula25 Feb 2019 7:20 p.m. PST

For the Vichy troop you can used the french dragons or chasseurs portés, painted in blue.

Like Serge69, I meant troops in tropical clothing. Operation Exporter was the British invasion of the Levant and Operation Ironclad the attack on Madagascar.

You are very anthousiastic, but I dont know if there is a lot of buyer for that?

Such doubts did not stop the Perry brothers from releasing their range in 28mm:

Please keep up the good work though! I know it takes hard work creating figures of a quality such as yours and am very much looking forward to your next releases.

guilhemdelyon26 Feb 2019 9:25 a.m. PST

I have already did french legion.
If I change the head they are the same.
So I will produce new head, and I can convert my french legion in french vichy troop.

I will produce tropical head and head with adrian helmet to convert my french legion in other figures.

guilhemdelyon26 Feb 2019 12:52 p.m. PST

I can also create figures similar to the 28mm of Peter brothers, they are a inspiration for me… they are so beautifull…

Going to add my 2 cts to the pot, and say these are really worth the money and the effort to paint them. At any rate, here are mine :

and by the way, welcome here, Guilhem

guilhemdelyon27 Feb 2019 1:01 a.m. PST

Thank you my friend… My new artillery french team will be avaible very soon, 1 month or 5 weeks , I hope…

Maha Bandula27 Feb 2019 6:36 a.m. PST

I will produce tropical head and head with adrian helmet to convert my french legion in other figures.

Can you also please turn the socks into puttees, as per the picture below? I promise to buy many sets. Thank you!

guilhemdelyon27 Feb 2019 8:15 a.m. PST

Ok, I think I can do that.

One set of 26/28 figures like the 28mm.

I must see what riffle they used?
Pier put mas 36 (like my legion), but maybe it was berthet or mousqueton?

Maha Bandula27 Feb 2019 8:24 p.m. PST

Thank you kind sir!

I must see what riffle they used?
Pier put mas 36 (like my legion), but maybe it was berthet or mousqueton?

According to the caption of this picture, it's the Berthier 1907-15/M16.

Another:

Again, am very serious about purchasing figures in sun helmets if you ever do them.

guilhemdelyon28 Feb 2019 12:31 a.m. PST

excellent. I will create this soldiers whith this to riffle.
If I change the head I can use this body to senegalese soldiers, or vichy soldiers (tropical helmet, or adrian).
But it will take a few month.
I think they will be avaible on october.

guilhemdelyon28 Feb 2019 12:32 a.m. PST

I think I can create a set whith 26 or 28 soldiers
whith the simular position than 28mm.

Maha Bandula28 Feb 2019 2:21 a.m. PST

No need to go to all that effort, Guilhem! Your existing Bir Hakeim French are already excellent. Just convert them into Vichyites!

guilhemdelyon28 Feb 2019 4:29 a.m. PST

ok , I will see that.

Murvihill02 Mar 2019 5:35 a.m. PST

France only had 250,000 MAS36 for 2.2 million troops in 1940. So if you're doing the 1940 campaign the chances the troops have a MAS36 are pretty small. After the armistice the African troops still would be found with WW1 arms. Metropolitan troops would have the MAS36.

guilhemdelyon03 Mar 2019 7:22 a.m. PST

Yes , french army used a lot of Berthier Mle 07-15 M16.
But the mas 36 was produce to 430 000 at june 1940.
The mas 36 was the riffle of the Professional division (the best): legion, DLM, DCR.
The Berthier Mle 07-15 M16 was for the infantery.
They was also mousqueton for the cavalery (they have also mas36), the men who used 8mm amunition (hotchkiss team), artillery team, troop in the Maginot line (they need a short riffle), the lebel was for the transport troop .

guilhemdelyon04 Mar 2019 2:21 p.m. PST

Excellent… I will do that, but I need times.

guilhemdelyon04 Mar 2019 2:22 p.m. PST

for me the riffle is the Berthier mousqueton.

Just a quick follow up -- I ordered two sets of the Chasseurs/Dragons Portes from Guilhem. The miniatures arrived today and were well packed and are absolutely wonderful! Moreover, the communications and service were first class -- I received the miniatures in less than two weeks from our first email! He was in constant contact letting me know when the order shipped and providing tracking information from La Poste.

I had a great experience with Guilhem (I wish all orders went this smoothly) and I look forward to ordering again.

Hi Maha bandula. I send my new masters today. Il put 2 tropical head in the mould and also adrian helmet head.
Il will convert my french legion in tropical and chychist army. I will have 60 tropical head and about 30 ardrian helmet.
Tell me how many soldiers you want. best regards

Maha Bandula14 Mar 2019 5:34 a.m. PST

I would happily buy all three of your Bir Hakeim sets were you to convert the socks and puttees (no Brens and tommy guns please!).

Thanks again. Will drop you an email once they are close to completion. Needless to say, I am super psyched!

guilhemdelyon14 Mar 2019 1:43 p.m. PST

write me soon, to know how many soldiers you need.
I see you want the puttees , not the socks.
So I must convert my masters and mould other soldiers.
I can do, but I need witch soldiers you want, if I change the riffle (I can), and how many soldiers you will buy.

best regards

Maha Bandula15 Mar 2019 3:10 a.m. PST

Like I said, all three of your Bir Hakeim sets, but please exclude the figures with Brens and Tommy guns.

guilhemdelyon15 Mar 2019 9:39 a.m. PST

But there are 2 options:
_first (the easyer) I used the 3 sets except the bren and the Tompson. I need change the head. The figures are already moulded.

_ second (need new mould, it mean more time and investissment). I change the head, I convert the socks in puttes, I can also change the riffle.
And I create one new set with 30 soldiers in one new mould. If I use the body of my legion soldiers, I can change them and change the uniform, but it will take more times and it will cost to me about 100 euro… I dont know if it is good for me. I have no new customers for my legion…
_ third solution, when I create the senegaleses soldiers, I can prepare the soldiers whith no head, to change the head with tropical or adrian or african head.

Maha Bandula16 Mar 2019 10:28 a.m. PST

Let me send you an email soon then!

guilhemdelyon26 Jul 2020 7:32 p.m. PST
