"The T-14 Armata is the most modern Russian tank and is considered to be the most advanced main battle tank in the world today. Revolutionary is its remote-controlled turret whose 125 mm smoothbore gun is loaded automatically…."

Have the Russians ever heard of a "shot trap"? That turret looks like it's covered with 'em… |
JMcCarroll | 17 Feb 2019 9:26 a.m. PST |
Like any tank it is still vulnerable to top attack. Which is were most modern ATGM attack from. |

Very futuristic looking. I'll give them that. But how many do they have operationally and deployable ? |
chicklewis | 17 Feb 2019 10:02 a.m. PST |
Those 'shot traps' may be just folded metal outside the main armor. Whose insignia is pictured, please ? |
Legion 4 | 17 Feb 2019 10:05 a.m. PST |
Generally from the T54 on, most of their MBTs had the "bottle cap" turret which had no shell traps. But you may be right chicklewis. |

They have quietly withdrawn it from production, fyi. |

You mean the T-14 ? So soon ? Already ? |
SBminisguy | 18 Feb 2019 3:09 p.m. PST |
They have quietly withdrawn it from production, fyi. So, you're saying Revell will produce more T-14s than the Russian military?? |

Unless the driver in that pic is a midget, that is a huge tank by modern standards… |
Legion 4 | 19 Feb 2019 4:19 p.m. PST |
Yeah, maybe that is why they didn't make a lot ! The cost to produce … |

@gregmita2 Wow, you don't find many photos top-down like that, like, at ALL. That sort of stuff like Roc's teeth when you're trying to find sources to work off. (I often have to end up looking at secondary sources like 35th kits for top-down references.) A shot down photo of one (and basically square on as well, but two tanks at that…? That might actually be a first. That is *incredibly* useful. Squirreling that image away for future reference…! (And if a there's a Revell kit now, it also suggests that there might be now a slim chance there's enough references out there now to be able to do it at 144 for the Shipyards now when next someone asks, which there hasn't been previously.) |

WOW !!!!! That is one big Mutha' !!!!! Maybe they will eventually start fielding OGREs … |

Doesn't look all that much wider than the T90, but it's quite a bit longer. @L4: if they can make a completely unmanned version work, it'd be a Mk1 OGRE. |
gregmita2 | 21 Feb 2019 3:26 p.m. PST |
@aotrscommander There was a whole series of these photos, including the IFVs, taken during that Victory parade. Imgur and Pinterest probably have them all. |

@L4: if they can make a completely unmanned version work, it'd be a Mk1 OGRE. I'm sure they are working on it ! |
