That was a neat design. Today, it could probably be a safe and reliable, operational reality. Seems to me it might make a great anti-helo, and anti-drone killer, so might still have some decent utility for smaller vessels. Could also double as a faster alternative to helicopters for over the horizon missile targeting too. |

Today, we have autopilots that could land that beast on it's tail, no problems. Not so sure about the 1950s! |

I thought this was about the Cobra Pogo, or at least the Terrordrome and its VTOL jet. Cobraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! |

The idea was to have fixed-wing speed that didn't need an aircraft carrier-sized deck to fly from. Today we'd probably use a baby Osprey or maybe a compound helicopter. |
