I saved this map from a 2005 National Geographic issue on the Civil War. I recently came across it and thought some of ya'll might like it.

I've seen it on ebay and maybe you could get direct from NatGeo.

A really informative map. I often study the bars showing deaths!

Surprising that they ignore Sterling Prices invasion of Missouri in late 1864. He did capture the capital, Columbia, after his initial target of St. Louis was blocked. They do list the battle of Westport. If he had been more successful, troops that arrived in the nick of time to destroy Hood's army at Nashville might never have arrived.

You're absolutely right about the omission of Price's Missouri campaign. For what it's worth, the capital of Missouri was and is Jefferson City, not Columbia. Price declined to attack Jefferson City and moved west to eventual defeat at Westport.

Surely the map is still in copyright.

Somewhere I may have a map from a 1961 issue of National Geographic :)

I think I have 1 of those stashed away somewhere, but I prefer the older (1961?) version.
