I just finished reading Vincent O'Hara's "Struggle for the Middle Sea" on WWII in the Mediterranean. A really good book with a lot of details. Gamers could find a great many game scenarios in this one. But O'Hara focuses mostly on combat by the larger ships (destroyer and larger) and does not spend much time on MTB's MGBs, S-Boats, etc. He does mention them a few times, but not in the sort of detail he does for the larger ships. Are there any good books dealing with the smaller craft? I'm looking for scenarios for the Cruel Seas game.

One that spring to mind is
Dog Boats at War: Royal Navy D Class MTBs and MGBs 1939-1945
by Leonard C Reynolds

Historical with lots of scenario ideas:

English Channel:
"The Battle of the Narrow Seas" by Lt. Cmdr. Peter Scott
"Night Action: MTB Flotilla at War" by Capt. Peter Dickens

Med:
"Flag 4" by Dudley Pope

All Theaters:
"The Battle of the Torpedo Boats" by Bryan Cooper

Fiction:
"Torpedo Run" & "A Prayer for the Ship" by Douglas Reeman

For mostly Pacific – google AmazonDOTcom pt boat books
There are a half-dozen or more listed which deal with
the USN's PT's.

All the above are good ( haven't read the. Fiction one) but I have enjoyed night action the best. It even has maps of several of his (battles)

I would suggest some other books by Leonard C Reynolds:
- Gunboat 658
- Mediterranean MTBs at War (there is another volume on MTBs and MGBs in Home Waters)

Also
- At Close Quarters by Robert Bulkley (this focuses on American PT Boats, but has a nice chapter on Mediterranean operations)

- Schnellboote by Lawrence Paterson (covers all fronts, but has several chapters on the Mediterranean and Aegean)

If you can get a copy of Warship 2009 there is a comprehensive history of MAS/MS actions including ones later in the war by boats operating with the Allies.

These is also "Adriatic Naval War 1940-45" by Zvonimir Freivogel. This source is pretty exhaustive on small boat actions with an eye to the Axis perspective but is frustrating in that it has no index.

I got Hichens' book which was written during the war. It was so generic and devoid of detail after the censors got through with it. For example, it was something like: "We sortied in several boats. Enemy encountered & action broken off". Fantastic detail!

Clash of Arms scenario book Mighty Midgets for Command at Sea system is one that may interest you , in addition to the suggestions above.
