Nice! Useful for Leipzig.

The honest truth. Leipzig. I knew about blowing bridges, Saxons shifting sides and poor old Poniatowski. But I did not know the Swedes were even there, let alone 19,000 of them……..I thought Bernadotte had the fine art of avoiding battles and turning up late. Purely an impression I had gained without any evidence

An entire line of troops that made no impact in the Napoleonic wars. They are nice tho.

Deadhead- they were at Leipzig, however Bernadotte was as usual slow in his movements, so they really didn't do a lot except show up so the French knew there were troops. Napoleon complained of this bitterly and thought of relieving him if command, several times. He eventually did.

Brilliant…love a good gag….a double entendre even.

Mind you, the bottom lads in those "fetching" hats could well have been incarcerated for crimes against fashion. I imagine their opponents chanting that footie lyric "what the blooming heck is that?" or some variant.

A deadly disease where parasitic broccoli plants fester and thrive on the back of victims necks.

Nice but of limited use/need in my opinion.

They do have plenty of use in skirmish scenarios with Dano-Norwegian forces.

As for Bernadotte he was notoriously shy of engaging in combat. Even during the Norwegian campaign in 1814 leading superior Swedish forces he was overly cautious, slow and unable to utilize the numerical superiority and suffered major defeats.

They then sued for a peace settlement which suited the Norwegians fine, becase the strained Norwegian forces at that point lacked the ressources to continue fighting. Their victories helped obtain great liberty in the union with Sweden than what Bernadotte had intended.

These troops are also valuable for the Russo-Swedish war of 1809, where the Swedes lost Finnland. Due to this, Finnland was part of Russia until 1919 when it fought for and won its independence back.
The Russian forces were superior, primarily in quality, probably due to experience gained during the Napoleonic wars up to then.
A final maneuver over the ice on the Baltic Sea in the winter brought the Russian forces around the Swedish blocking force in Northern Sweden, resulting in a coup de main. Sweden sued for peace and had to give up Finnland.
There were many skirmishes, but also some corps&division sized actions.
