Hello, I am looking for alternatives to the GW Eldar weapons platforms. Currently to get one I have to buy a Guardian squad box. I just need more of the platforms. What options are out there? Thanks |

evilbay for the older metal ones. It wouldn't give you the right weapons, but I remember GW making a heavy support weapon squad box, 3 platforms and crew with the big stuff like vibro-cannons. Then you raid your bits box for the squad-support guns. Last resort would be resin casting.

A few ideas. If you have spare weapons it will make things easier. Use an epic grave tank? If not too small. Or look at similar space ship Minis. From the look of it, and pilfering from an old dwarf article, use a spoon. Put in some blu tac or plasticine to cater for the gap in the middle and pour in some plaster, toy wax or resin, or epoxy putty (smear some oil in if using epoxy). Once set, pull out and trim. Carve in some panel lines and roll little eggs op epoxy putty to add as gems. Cut some plastic or card for the shield. Add gun, could just use a part of plastic pen/s. Base and paint. Not perfect, but will look the part no less. You could also sculpt A similar object in plasticine on a jar lid and make a latex or silicon mould, then cast in plaster or resin. All very simple and cheap, just not official, like the other other companies alternatives. |
