Do you turn on a specific crafting light to paint? Not just natural ambient or artificial light, but you have a specific light that you use to paint and don't in general otherwise use? About half the time, I use a crafting light that SWMBO and I share. I believe it was ostensibly marketed to cross-stitchers. Never Rarely Sometimes Frequently All the time |

I had used a 100 watt CFL as a task light for the past several years. But I recently purchased a LED bulb for my task light. Same wattage but it is much brighter. Terry |

Daylight ring light combined with a 3.5" diameter magnifier. Made a great difference to painting under normal household lights. |

I use an outside source and raise the blinds. Doesn't work too well at night, though… ;-) |

2 OTT Lights and another light with an OTT bulb. There are now others that make full spectrum bulbs that I will get around to trying someday. Don't buy OTT lights unless they are on sale. The bulbs are reasonably priced if you have an empty lamp. |
FusilierDan | 06 Feb 2019 6:32 p.m. PST |
Yes a light with a 250 watt incandescent bulb surrounded by a fluorescent bulb. |

My painting table is underground in the bunker so windows are not an option. I use an Ott light I bought 15 years ago and daylight bulbs in my overhead lights. |
Doctor X | 06 Feb 2019 11:48 p.m. PST |
No. Just a regular desk lamp with a 75w GE Reveal bulb. |

Yes I two lamps, one of blue light (fluorescent bulb) and one of yellow (incandescent bulb). Something I learned from painting autos – gives a truer color. Only problem I ever had was once while painting figures with white uniforms. I mixed up a purple/blue shadow color, it was so close I can't tell what shading I painted and what was natural. Had to use a third lamp to make sure I didn't miss any shadows. |
