I love the G-series, more so as a skirmish miniatures game, than from an RPG standpoint. Built a 25mm scale model of the Steading, played it out with miniatures, using 1e AD&D rules. Working on doing the same with G2 and G3. Too much work to convert them to 2e BattleSystem Skirmish rules (mini's skirmish rules, with a thin veneer of RPG over the top -- combat is fast!), or any other mini's rules. I played Keep on the Borderlands as my introduction to D&D, back in 1980. I like it mostly for nostalgia. I picked up a NOS copy of City State of the Invincible Overlord around 1987. Been using it ever since, in my 1e/2e games. Fantastic product, timeless, in the hands of a resourceful DM. Cheers! |
