So on a little torn, if you model mail accurately, then in 28mm it would just look like a corse sweater.(some are modelled like this) and it's the most realistic look. But it's hard to make look good. And it can end up just looking like a metal sweater. I feel the more exaggerated style looks better. But had mail actually been made like that the rings would be the size of wedding rings and not very effective. The problem is I generally prefer more realistic figures. |

Rule of cool. Make just big enough to be recognizable. Same thing with modern camo. I can't possibly paint camo ‘in scale'… |

I suggest you look up some of the tomb figures and brasses of 13 th century knights. The masons were good sculptors had a long history of representing mail They manage to get something that looks good an is realistic without being on a huge scale. |
